I wake up early today, rolling over and groaning. It's Monday, and like most normal people it's my least favorite day of the week. Not only do I have to go to school today, but on Mondays I work at the local diner, helping the owner beat the dinner rush. I figure it pays good money, and my parents won't always be on my back about getting a job. Once Jake got a job at a grocery store down the street, the pressure was finally on me to get a job, so working at the diner is the best option I could have thought of. Not only is the pressure off me, but I only have to work one day a week.
This morning is also a bit more nerve wracking than normal, since my plan with Paisley is finally going into motion.

"Okay so here's what I'm thinking. I'm assuming you want Mila back?", She nods and I take that as my cue to continue. "And I want Jayden to get jealous, and the only way to accomplish both of our goals is to-"
"Fake date.", She finishes for me, a grin forming on her face as she realizes what I'm thinking. "That's the best idea you've ever had, not only do I get my ex back, but you have to put up with me for a while. By the end of this we'll be besties."
"In your dreams Lewis. Anyways, if we don't want to be suspicious, I think we should at least wait two weeks."
She attempts to pout, but she can't seem to wipe the grin off her face to do so. "So how do you want me to ask you out Ms. Heighten? A dramatic song? Fireworks? I could call Gigi, or Arian-."
"How about flowers and your mouth?"
She smirks. "In public? I didn't expect that from you Brooke. I mean I'm more than happy to help a fulfill your desires but -"
I cut her off by slapping her on the arm, a blush forming on my face before I can even try to hold it back.
"Whatever Lewis."
She laughs again, her face lighting up. "Don't worry, you'll be in love with me after I'm done with you. And that's a promise."
I snort, holding back laughter of my own. "Please, if anything you'll be in love with me after all of this. We both know you can't resist me."
She pretends to ponder what I just said, an evil smirk forming on her face.
"Is that right? Because I seem to remember you not being able to resist me. Especially my fingers, and my mouth and-"
The bell rings below us, saving me from jumping off the roof to get away from her. She pulls me up, leaning in to whisper to me.
"I'll see you tomorrow Brooke." She whispers before pulling away, winking at me and climbing down the ladder.
I enjoy the quiet before going back into school, and what's sure to be an interesting rest of the day.

Paisley had texted me this morning, letting me know that today's the big day. She still refuses to tell me what her plan is, but knowing her, it's going to be extravagant. I'm trying to convince myself that the only reason I'm doing this is to make Jayden jealous, but in the back of my brain I know that there may have been multiple reasons for my agreement.
Jake honks the horn, and I lock up the door to the house, running to the car and throwing my stuff into the back before hopping in myself. Mya's already in the front of the car, groaning about how she's going to be late. But that girl is always worried about something, so it doesn't worry me at all.
Jake pulls up in front of the school five minutes later, letting Mya go out but motioning for me to stay in the car. He waits for her to get out of the car before turning to me.
"Hey Brooke."
"Hey Jake?" I answer, confusion evident in my tone.
"I just wanted to make sure you're okay, you've seemed a little off, and as your favorite sibling, it's my job to check in on you. I heard about what happened with you and Jayden, and if you need me to do anything, beat her up, beat someone else up, kidnap someone, I'll do it. I know we might not be as close as you and your friends, but I'm always here for you. Always and forever B."
My face softens into a smile, as my eyes tear up a little bit.
"I love you Jake. Always and forever."
He leans over for a quick hug, pulling away and returning to his usual self.
"Well now that we're down with all this sappy shit, you sure I don't need to kick someone's ass?"
I laugh, getting out of the car. "I'm sure Jake. See you later loser."
"See you later B." He replies, getting out of the car and migrating towards a group of football guys.
I get into school without a worry in my mind, before I see a figure leaning against my locker. I can't see who they are until I get closer, and my eyes widen with surprise. I head over to my locker tapping them on the shoulder. They turn around and my guess is confirmed.
It's Jayden, flowers in her hand with worry shining in her eyes.
"Hey Brooke." She says, her tone laced with worry.
I push past her and open my locker. "What do you want Jayden?"
She gathers her confidence before speaking again. "I'm sorry about... well everything. The whole thing with Mila was a mistake, and I'm sorry I not only messed up the only chance I had with you, but our friendship. Will you forgive me? Can we ever be friends again?"
I go to answer her, but before I can I hear the sound of drums down the hallway, and I turn around startled. It's Paisley, followed by the entire marching band. And she's headed straight towards me. The only words that come to my mind are oh shit.
Merry Christmas to everyone who celebrates it, and happy friday to everyone who doesn't!
