Ten minutes later she pulls into the parking lot in one of the most expensive restaurants in town, mondo meraviglioso, and my jaw drops. Not only is it crazy expensive, it's always full, and we don't have a reservation.
Today, it's closed though, the parking lot abandoned and the restaurant dimly lit, with no one around except us.
"Paisley, there's no one here. It's closed."
She grins and jogs over to open my door. "No it's not, it's just reserved."
"You reserved this whole restaurant for us?" I wondered, realizing how much time she must have put into this.
She shrugs and walks over to the door of the restaurant, gently knocking.
"My parents know the owner, so I just pulled some strings. And my parents owe me anyways for never being here, so I'm considering this my early birthday present from them.
A smiling older woman unlocks the door, hugging Paisley tight before ushering the both of us inside.
"You must be Brooke!" She exclaims, pulling me in for a hug. She smells just like my grandma did, that familiar scent of fresh baked goods.
"It's nice to meet you!" I reply, pulling away and shrinking back into Paisley's side.
She brings us over to a table by the window, decorated with a bouquet of roses in the middle. The lighting is sparse, so each table has two candles, which makes this feel more romantic than it should. She sets down our menus and heads away, leaving us alone.
Paisley leans forward on the table, her eyes locking with mine.
"Do you want to talk first or eat first?"
I go to answer her, but before I can, my stomach interrupts us, embarrassing me and answering her question at the same time.
"Well I guess we have our answer." She says, grinning and picking up her menu.

Our food comes out fifteen minutes later, which is one of the perks of eating alone in a restaurant. We wolf it down, barely stopping to make small talk. I pull out my flashcards as our plates are carried away, ready to start, but Paisley stops me once again.
She stands up, and grabs my bag, motioning to the door. I follow her out yet again in confusion, before stopping outside of the restaurant.
"What are we doing now?" I demand, wanting to know what she has planned next.
"You'll have to wait and see." She replies, a mysterious smirk on her face as she opens the passenger car door for me.
"Can't you just tell me now?" I whine, but it's met with a firm no from Paisley.
Fifteen minutes later we're in front of the high school, and before I can ask any more questions, Paisley comes to my side of the car and holds up a blindfold, motioning for me to put it on.
"Is this really necessary?" I ask, but she just nods, a grin spreading across her face the last thing I see before the world goes black.
She steers me through the school, and five minutes later she stops turning me around and stepping back. I take off my blindfold and gasp when I see what's in front of me. She did this all just to calm my nerves. She did this for me.
I turn behind me and see the nervous smile across her face turn into surprise when I pull her into a hug.
She leads me onto the auditorium stage after I pull away, and as we get closer I stop and just fully take in what I'm seeing. She somehow found time to collect pictures of her from when she was little to now, each one with a little fact about her, whether it's her mother's name, or her favorite color. The pictures are spread out on pieces of cardboard, propped up against metal stands.
"I know it may be too much, but I didn't want you to worry. This was the best way I could think of to let you in, show you who I am, and I know you would of thought of something way better, but-"
She doesn't get to finish, as I pull her in for a kiss, warmth immediately spreading down my body, as I swear my heart stops beating.
She pulls away and looks down at me, her eyes sparkling.
"What was that for?"
"I thought I saw someone coming." I lie, but I can tell she doesn't believe me, because she pulls me back in, her gentle touch grounding me, while the feeling of her lips against mine makes me feel like I'm flying.
