When I first thought about fake dating Paisley, I always thought the hardest part would be lying to my family and friends, who know me better than I know myself. I never thought the hardest part would be trying not to fall in love with her.

Love is such a small word, yet it has such a big impact. When you love someone, you open up to them. You give them your heart, and hope they don't shatter it like glass. Falling in love is like jumping out of a plane without a parachute, the exhilaration countered by the fear.

Love is just a four letter word, yet it can change millions of words that you say in the future. That's what scares me, the future. Sometimes I wish I could see into the future, see who I end up being. But I know that's an impossible wish, and in order to be the person I end up being in the future, I need to truly live every second.

This morning was hectic, seeing as Jake was still hungover from last night. He came down to the kitchen groaning in pain, with his hand seemingly stuck to his forehead. I had to drive us to school this morning, which resulted in complaints being thrown at me the entire ride seeing as I actually follow safety protocols, unlike Jake.

It's been four hours now, and I'm in English, attempting to ignore the looks Paisley's shooting my way. She's been staring at me the whole class, apparently content with looking at me instead of listening to the teacher, though I'm sure she knows what's going on.

"Brooke!" She hisses, looking at me with pleading eyes.

I roll my eyes and turn towards her, a smile brightening my face as I see her lips form a pouty face, the face she knows I can't resist.

"What do you need, babe?" I whisper back, trying to avoid the glare Ms. Thine is shooting at me.

"Can we do tutoring at your house today instead of in the library?" She replies, hope reflecting through her eyes.

"Sure, but why?" I ask. We always tutor in the library, since it's kind of like neutral territory. There's a reason she hasn't come to my house yet, even though we've been dating for almost a month. My parents and Mya never hated her for what she did,and they've been begging me to get her to come over. They've already prepared numerous embarrassing stories to entertain her with, and Mya refers to her as big sis, just to get me riled up.

"I wanna cuddle baby." She admits, her face softening into a loving smile as she unashamedly stares at me.

Before I can answer her however, Ms. Thine clears her throat, calling both of our names.

"Well if it isn't the 'it' couple themselves." She starts, a frown settling on her face. "Would you like to tell me what we were just talking about?"

Paisley jumps in. "You were discussing how the poem you were reading contrasts with the theme of Romeo and Juliet, ma'am."

"Thank you Ms. Lewis." She replies, obviously surprised.

Before I go back to listening, I whisper one last thing to Paisley.

"How did you do that?"

She grins, obviously very proud of herself. "It's called multitasking."

"Are you sure you can handle cuddling and tutoring tonight?"

"I guess we'll find out." She replies, before finally turning toward the board, though I know it won't be long before she turns back to me.
