Roman loves to sing. He loves the way the music notes flow out of his mouth. He loves the claps of the people in the imagination when he finishes. He loves the way the lyrics can express romance, an issue, or something beautifully sad. The way the bass can pound out of of the speakers or headphones as he sings his heart out. The way one song can make his go from bad to amazing. How singing helps his host. The expressions, the dynamics.  How singing can make a prince's dress sparkle or a princess's fight more exciting and the non-binary's fairiesflight all the more magical. All of it

Then something changed in his way of thinking. He likes singing.

Roman likes to sing. He doesn't like the way Patton tells him to tone down. He doesn't like how Logan takes some of the whimsy out of it. He doesn't like when Virgil mocks his voice. He still likes the notes. He still likes the melody. The way it all comes together in the end. But maybe he saves all the adventurous tales for the imagination and might him a tune around his family sometimes. That's okay with him. He likes singing and that's what's important right?

POF came and went. Janus and Remus got accepted. Roman thinks that singing is okay.

Roman thinks singing is okay. He doesn't think it's okay when Janus pretends to sing like him but make his mock voice too sharp or flat. He doesn't think that it's okay when Remus comes in and crashes his performances in the imagination; and adds inappropriate words to the tunes that he hums. Roman doesn't think that telling him to be quiet is okay.. He still thinks that the overall song is good but nothing speaks to him. Singing gives his day a bit of joy;locked in his bathroom singing to his reflection of course. But singing is okay and that's still good.

A drastic change happens the sides are no longer wary of Janus and Remus. Roman stops, singing

Roman hates singing. He hates the way his performances never turnout anymore so he stops doing them. No singing in the imagination another item to the list. He hates the words 'shut up' when he opens his mouth around Virgil or during a movie night. No singing around Virgil. He hates the way Logan points out everything illogical about lyrics to a song. No singing around Logan. He hates the way Patton will change the lyrics then tease him and if he says something about that? don't say anything about that. No singing around Patton. Roman hates the way Remus will tease him about new lyrics to one of the songs he's rehearsing for Thomas or if the tune can be even slightly dirty. No singing around Remus. He still has the mirror in the bathroom to hum a small tune? No. Janus will catch him and say 'shut up' like Virgil. Shut up. Shut up, shut up, shut up. A phrase that Roman all too commonly hears when even one note escapes from his mouth.

Roman stops singing. Music stops filling him up with passion. His eyes dull to be filled with a shallow brightness like empty glass threatening to crack at any time. Disney movies and musicals are played on repeat in his room no more in case he'd start. Roman writes himself in with the least amount of lyrics in videos. Roman doesn't care about the dynamics and dare he say that it fills him with an hollow feeling a ghost of what he once was. So Roman doesn't even listen to music. He's dreadfully careful not to let even a verse out.

Patton knocks on Roman's door. Excimer radiating throughout him. "Roman Roro Roman the prince. How about you come downstairs?" He nags happily. Roman rolls his eyes but comes down anyways. As soon as his foot touches the last step he's in a hat, sweater, and matching gloves. He looks around and sees the others even Janus and Remus in a set matching each of their colors and styles. "We!re going caroling!" Patton exclaims. Roman sighs. "I can't. I don't sing." This was a shock to everyone unaware of the damage they caused. "What'd you mean you don't sing princey? That's like all you do." Virgil half teases half serous.

"In the past four 1 else can answer that. "No it has been 4 months 36 minutes and 16 seconds since you last sang." Logan informs. "Although there isn't a logical answer to why." Adding that pushed Roman over the edge. He starts laughing the same desperate laugh he did in May before the laughs turn to sobs. He start to go to his room while the sides that are left stand in shock.  "Ask yourselves why."  Roman yells through his crying before disappearing into his room.
