Apples (Roman Angst)

Hello. I love writing still if your worried that I'm quitting. I'm trying something different. Hopefully it'll work I think I read a prompt like this from Thefoxlotuslady but I'm not sure as it was so long ago when I read it. Tw: Food poisoning, character death, passing out
Fantasy au

*flashback*
A slap rang throughout the throne room.  The merciless king hit the boy again before feeling satisfied. A guard picked up the small child before carrying him out and putting him in his room.

The child's name is Roman.

Time skip 7 years (Roman is 13)
Roman patches himself up again. His father didn't hesitate to wound him during training. He thinks that it'll be ok hopefully. The baker's son Patton is there helping Ro however he could. "I know you want me to leave Pat but at least I'm allowed out of this castle now?" Roman tries reasoning. "I still don't like that your dad is harming you. I have an idea. What if I become your dad and we pretend that he isn't yours?" Patton is hopeful about the idea "Let's do it." Roman agrees.

By the next year it isn't an uncommon sight to see 2 boys and 1 prince walking around the city together. Roman is as happy as he has been which isn't much. He knows how to apply makeup to make the bruises look better and cover up cuts. The friends know about the abuse but not how bad it's gotten.

At 15 Emile is introduced, he's everything that Roman could want in a husband but it's forced. Roman doesn't want to get married and be subdued. Roman talks about this to Logan the advisor's son "I just don't know why I'm like this. I really only want to be friends Lo." Roman vents "Have you ever heard of aromatic?" The informed child asks "Well yes but I'd be down to have you know..." Roman counters "You can have sexual attraction if your aro Roman. It's a quite common misconception" 
(I think that's true and I always see aroace in fanfics and rarely only just one.)

Roman clutches Logan's dead body sobs tearing through his throat as he gets pulled of his friend's body. The guards pull him off and carry him to his room. Roman doesn't stop crying his father walks into his room. "Toughen up boy. You're a prince and princes don't cry" "Yes father "Roman dries his tears and hardens his stare as the king leaves the room. "Got daddy issues princy.?" A sarcastic voice rings out in the room "Who are you?"

*End of flashback and Roman is 17* (Roman was 16 when Logan died.)
Roman wasn't fine but no one could tell Emile and Patton were suspicious but nothing could be proven.  The group walks together on the side of the road Roman gushing about a play he just saw when an old women walks up to Roman "My prince I have an apple, take a bite and your wishes will come true." Roman knew it was poisonous but wouldn't kill him. He took a bite thinking of his friends before passing out hearing someone call his name.

I actually liked my writing in this one. I might do a part two. And tell me 3mor more things about yourself!
