The original was so bad.

currently the prince is cuddling with Patton, Logan, and Virgil while they whisper sweet nothings in his ear.

Then the three stand up abruptly causing Roman to fall off the couch. "You really think that we could like you?" Virgil sneers. "Now I thought we were going to tell him nicely. But he's right about us not liking you." Patton agrees with only a bit of guilt on how it was said. "It's very unfortunate for you Roman but I still apologize for 'leading you on' I've never liked you in the beginning." Logan is as cold as ever the soft demeanor from just minutes ago gone.

The three mix together in a spiral before Roman starts to plummet into blackness
Sitting straight (gay) up in bed Roman takes a big inhale panicking before realizing it wasn't real. 'I wish the first part was real but glad the second part wasn't.' He thinks still kinda out of it.

He moves his head to the big 2am on his clock and silently groans but then hears a knock. "Kiddo?" Patton. He tiredly opens the door as it was locked for the first time in a while. "I couldn't sleep and wanted to say that I truly do love you. You're family and my hero. I'm sorry for Janus saying those things to you but please think about apologizing to him also. " Patton says and opens his arms for a hug which Roman gives him mentally reluctant.

After that encounter the former hero can't fall asleep as much as his body yearns for it. Patton loves him even if it's platonic Patton meant what he said in the video. And that made him feel good. 'But does he really? Maybe you should ask Janus? Oh wait you ruined your friendship with him.' His brain mocks. Sighing Roman turns over on his bed just wanting to forget about the whole video issue and start over or move on. Sighing for what felt like the millionth time he pulls out his phone. "Now now you know the blue light is bad for you." Someone says their words hold a calm anger.

Roman immediately gets out of bed and turns his light on to get a better look at the stranger. The stranger looks about six foot and has black hair with streaks of blue and red instead of the normal brown hair. There's what looks to be a heart shaped scar around his left eye. And his mouth has a mix of a scowl and smirk. "Who are you?" The prince asks confusingly. "You can call me River. Don't forget me." River leaves the bedroom sinking out to look like a light side.

River wouldn't call himself a dark side. He also wouldn't call himself a light side. He's a prime example of a morally gray character. Not as extreme as Kaz Brekker but pretty close. The other sides decided that they didn't want him because of how unpredictable he is. They can guess what Remus is going to do but not someone who works by their own will. Despite his resentment towards most of the sides River was and still is lonely. So he did what any lonely person would do and visited someone he hoped he could make into more than a friend.

Time skip brought to you by me needing more conflict

River has visited the prince more than enough and he couldn't figure out what he was doing wrong. He dressed in a way Roman would like and was himself like Roman suggested when he found out about him not being himself but nothing was working. 'You know what I'll find a way to make him mine.'

River does just that

I could not I honestly hated redoing this but hated reading the original more.
