Rosie's POV

A week later

It's finally here, prom night. It's still a weird feeling that I am going to Prom with Steve instead of Matthew, but again, I am happier with Steve.

I am wearing a maroon dress that goes to the floor, and Steve is wearing a black suit with a maroon tie and my maroon corsage in his hand for me to put on my wrist. Steve walks in from the front door and looks at me. "Wow, you look beautiful."

"Thanks! My mom is going to want to take photos so, be prepared." My parents come into the room.

"Oh! You two look so beautiful together!" says my mom. As it turns out, my mom approves of having Steve around, because he saved me when I was kidnapped. My dad however, doesn't like Steve at all. He always liked how happy I was with Matthew. He doesn't understand why we are not together anymore. There are times when I forget that, but I still never talk to him.

My mom is taking pictures of us together. After all, it is my last ever High School Prom. For some reason, it's not at all how I pictured it so far. Hopefully the dance will be fun.

"I love you mom, I love you dad! Bye!" I said as Steve escorted me out of my house and into his car. My mom waves at us as my dad gives Steve the death glare, then smiles at me.

"Don't stay too late!" yells my dad.

Steve gets into the car and I get on my side as well. I notice that Steve didn't do what Matthew usually does. He opens my side of the car for me before I have the chance to, but Steve didn't do that. He just got in. The car ride is really quiet.

Once we get to Prom, Steve automatically goes over to his friends and their dates. I go over there not really knowing what to do, but I should stick with Steve.

Sammie and Robbie come over to me hand in hand. "It turns out, I didn't really need your help after all" says Sammie. Robbie kisses her cheek. I can't help but smile at seeing those two finally together. I give them both a hug and congratulate them, so proud that they got together by themselves.

After Steve was done socializing, he grabs my hand and pulls me to the dance floor. I didn't know the song playing, but danced anyway.

The song ends and I stop to rest. I walk over to a little bench (the theme is A Walk in the Park) and sit down. Then, someone sits next to me. I knew I was going to see him today, but he didn't even say anything. Instead I do. "Hey Matthew, nice dance isn't it?"

Matthew looks over at me shocked to see me talking to him, but he nods. He still isn't talking. He is probably afraid that I will stop him.

Steve then comes up to the bench once the other song ends. "Oh, hey Matthew, can we talk?"

Steve's POV

I have wanted to talk to Matthew for a very long time. Ever since I got his girl, I have been worried on what he wanted to say about it. Plus, I have been jealous for him for years now, I should let him know that.

Matthew stands up and we walk out to the hall. I tell Rosie that she can go and socialize with her friends. "So, Matthew, I just want to let you know something" I said.

"What is it?" asks Matthew a little sad and mad at the same time.

"I'm sorry." Matthew perks up his head to look me in the eye. "I have been horrible to you and Rosie and you both deserve better." Matthew looked too shocked to say anything. He just stares at me waiting for me to say more. So I do. "To be honest, the reason why I ended up being really mean to you is because I was super jealous. You just happened to have the girl I love crawling all over you and had a lot of other girls wanting to be with you. You are just the man that every girl wants and all the boys want to be. You are just so amazing. I was afraid of your shadow. Then I took wrong turns. I ended up taking drugs and hooking with all the whores, but now, for once, I don't. I have a wonderful girl and hopefully you as my best friend again." I paused to see his reaction at the phrase 'best friend'. His eyes end up going wider than before.
