Rosie's POV

After Matthew left, I did my homework in the front room.

Once the time came for Matthew to pick me up, I got in my nicest dress. I went to look at myself in the mirror.

"I look disgusting" I say to myself. I manage to put my longish hair in a bun. It only made it a little difference, but enough to feel better about my looks.

Once the hour comes for Matthew to pick me up, I hear a ring at the door.

"Hey! You- you don't need to wear a dress" said Matthew once I opened the door.

        "Why not?" I asked.

"It's just not you. I know you as the girl who isn't afraid to be herself, and that means pajamas" said Matthew grabbing my hand.

        "But I'm on a date" I say.

"With me." He has a point there.

"Well, do you want me to change?"

"I don't care." I hate it when he always teases me like this. I walked out in my dress. It's comfortable anyway.

Matthew looks so handsome. He's wearing a suit with a tie, which I have only seen him wear a few times when we were in choir together. "You look really handsome tonight" I told him.

"You do too" said Matthew making me laugh. He hit me with that irresistible smile of his.

We walk up to his car and he opened the door for me. "After you." My smile got bigger. I got into the car.

Matthew ran to the other side and got in the car. I've never seen his gentleman side. He is so sweet.

"So, where are we going?" I asked.

        "You'll see."

Matthew's POV

I love Rosie so much. I am so happy that she said yes to going on a date with me.

I don't want anything to change, even though it already has. I poke her every time I see her. She always playfully hits me until my arm hurts. I always tease her and she teases me back. It is like we are such close friends. I don't want that to change. Even though I am so glad that I can actually express my feelings with her now. I mean, I knew that I always could, but I'm a really big wimp when it comes to girls.

I looked over to Rosie. She is smiling like its Christmas morning.

I pull into the parking lot of her favorite restaurant, Saragusta's. A huge smile grows upon her face once I got out of the car and ran to the other side to open her door. "Man, you really do know me" she said with a happy expression on her face.

"Of course I do! I've known you for almost 6 years. Although it seems longer" I said. We walk up to the front doors of the restaurant and open the door for her.

        "Thank you" said Rosie.

        "You're welcome."

We take out seats when the women working there took us to our table.

"So, what do you want?" I asked seeing how she immediately takes her seat and picks up the menu once it is given to her.

"Hold your horses, I'm perusing the merchandise" said Rosie making me laugh. It was a very long time ago when we sang 'Carrying the Banner' from Newsies. It wasn't since middle school. We had so much fun.

I snap back to reality when the waiter asks us what we want to drink. "I'll have a Coke and she will have a Dr. Pepper" I say. Rosie looks at me in amazement like I was reading her mind. "Thank you" I say as soon as the waiter leaves. I look at Rosie and see how much she has changed since middle school. Her hair was much shorter then. Now her hair is just barely past above her waits. She keeps saying how she wants it cut, but I don't want it cut. I love her long brown hair with her shining blue eyes. So, she said yesterday for us to enjoy her hair for as long as we can. So, just for kicks, we played with her hair.

"Matthew? Why are you staring at me" said Rosie snapping me back to reality.

"Sorry... I'm just remembering the old times, like middle school and earlier today" I said. Rosie puts a big smile on her face. I think she is thinking more about our first kiss. Yet, I can see her singing her solo in 'Carrying the Banner.'

"That was so much fun. I remember the Broadway review we performed. That was so much fun being in almost all of the performances." An even bigger smile slaps in her face once she said that.

"It's like you read my mind."

"Well you read my mind on how I wanted Dr. Pepper. How did you even know that it's my favorite drink?"

"I remember our group date before school started."

"Ah." She paused for a second. "Yeah, the Broadway Review was fun. Those were the good old times."

"I hope that these days will be even greater" I said grabbing her hand that is laying there alone of the table. Our smiles grow even bigger. I don't know if our smiles can grow anymore.

I love her so much! She is so full of joy all the time! I want to kiss her. I should kiss her. I start to lean into her.

We have a very small and gentle kiss. I caress her cheek to lean in again, but all is interrupted by the waiter. "Are you--sorry for interrupting."

"No it's okay. Umm, I will have the spaghetti meatballs and she will have the fettuccine alfredo" I said. She gives me that look of surprise saying that I read her mind again. I smile at her.

Rosie's POV

        How does he do that?

We talked the whole time at the date. We talked about everything good in life, the old days, during the summer when we weren't spending time together, when we were spending time together, and all good times.

When it was time to take me home, we gathered up all of our stuff and our leftovers and we left. In the car, we were silent. We talked each other out. But without talking, my mind wanders off, and when my mind wanders off my mind sets on the worst things. Steve. Get him out of your head Rosie! Nothing bad is going to happen!

Matthew looks at me. He can see that Steve is bothering me again. "Are you alright?"

"I'm fine." He gives me a look that says that he knows I'm lying. "Fine, no I'm not fine. Steve keeps creeping into my mind."

"It will be okay. I promise." Matthew now grabs my hand. We hold each other's hand as tight as we can.

Once we got to my house, Matthew immediately stopped the car in the driveway and ran to my side of the car to open my door for me. My smile goes back on my face while I get out of the car. Matthew walked me up to my door step and gave me a hug. "I promise" he whispered into my ear.

I pull away a little and give him a long and passionate kiss. He kisses me back with all of the love in his heart. I can feel it. I kiss him with all of the love in my heart as well.

I go up to my room and see what is in their first before entering. I am alone. I take off my dress and get into my pajamas. I read a few verses in my Book of Mormon and then turn off my lights to go to sleep. Once I lay on my bed, I hear a tap on my window. I think it's the branches of the tree that sways in the wind. It has always tapping my window. But this time it is tapping a lot more. I open my window to see what is going on when Steve is the first thing I see instead of the tree. Crap.
