True Loves Challenge

Chapter 2

        When I got home, I went straight up to my room so I could do my homework. I got in, set my backpack down, and sat in my bed to take my shoes off. You know, like I always do. Then I hear someone say, "Well, it seems like I beat you here." I jumped. It was Steve. I wanted so badly to run out of my room to get away from him before something bad happens, but Steve grabbed my arm before I had the chance. "No, no, we shouldn't alert your mother." I tugged my arm out of his grasp and ran out of my room.

        "Mom! There is a strange man in my room!" I yelled.

        "You mean Steve? Oh, well, he came hoping that you would be home. He says that you two have to work of a project" said my mom.

        "No! He is a total creep! You have no idea what he has done to me!" I yelled.

        "Will you be nice?" asked my mom.

        "No! He abused me!" I yelled, "And that's not even the worst part!"

        "Now why would I do such a thing?" asked Steve.

        "Get away from me!" I ran down the stairs and ran out of the house in my bare feet.

        I was really lucky that I still had my phone with me. I called Matthew. I didn't know what else to do. My mom didn't believe me. And I know now that I can trust Matthew with anything.

        "Matthew?" I asked through the phone.

        "Rosie?" asked Matthew, "What is it?"

        "It's Steve. He is in my house" I said.

        "I'll be there in a second" said Matthew.

        I waited outside in my bare feet. I had to start jumping because my feet started burning on the hot driveway. It is just the beginning of the school year. So, it is in the middle of August. It is still summer really, but my school district like more school but more breaks during the year. I really hate that.

        I start to get even hotter jumping so instead I walked around. Eventually Matthew got here.

        "He's in the house, who knows what he is even doing to my mom!" I said looking worried, and kind of sick.

        "Don't worry. It will be okay" said Matthew. He walked right into the house not even afraid. I followed him holding his arm. He stopped and grabbed my hand. We walked into the house together.

        Once we walked in, we heard laughing. It is my mother and Steve. What is going on?

        "Get out" said Matthew.

        "Whoa! Matthew, what's with the whole tenseness thing? You should really learn to be less tense" said Steve.

        "Don't even start that with me! You'd better get out of this house right now!" yelled Matthew.

        "Or what?" asked Steve. Matthew was silent. "That's what I thought." Steve sat on the couch like it is now his property. It looked like Matthew was about to give up, but then Matthew walked up to Steve stood him up and punched him in the face.

        "Or this will happen again, but in a place that hurts even more" said Matthew. He put a huge grin on my face once he looked at me. "And I will also do this." Matthew picked Steve up and walked to the door. Matthew threw him out face down on the hot cement and closed the door. "There you go, all cared for."

        "Thank you" I said.

        "I'll see you tonight. I'll pick you up" said Matthew.

        Then I said, "Okay." And I kissed him. He kissed me back with that gentle side of him. I love his gentle side. I love every side, even the annoying side.
