Killua's heart pounded as he sat down on his bed thinking about what had happened that morning."I actually talked to somebody." He thought out loud to himself. Gon's smile flashed across his mind. His cheeks couldn't help but stretch into a smile.
Knock, knock, knock! Killua stiffened up as someone knocked at his door. He got down from his bed and glided across the floor not making a sound. He looked through the small crack in his door and saw his older brother standing there. His tight suit wrapped tightly around his thin waist and broad shoulders. His straight black hair fell behind him like a curtain and his pale skin was almost hard for Killua to look at. His dead pan eyes quickly darted to meet Killua's shining blue eyes.
"I know you're in there Killua," Illumi stated.
Killua sighed and reluctantly opened the door.
"Father wants you to meet someone," Illumi explained.
Killua shifted his eyes to study Illumi's face and expressions. There was something in the back of his head that told him to run. To run away from it all and to never look back. Killua took in a silent breath of air before facing his brother.
"Who is it?" Killua asked in a calm voice.
"You'll see when we get there," Illumi answered. He turned down the hallway and started to walk in a stiff guarded way.
Killua reluctantly followed a few feet behind him. Had this been about what he did that morning? Was he going to be tortured for his crime against his family. If so, why was he so scared? It wasn't like the idea of being tortured was anything new. Killua couldn't place why being around Illumi made him so uneasy, but he did everything in his power to stay away from him.
They turned the corner into the ball room and Killua saw someone that took more than one glance to process. A tall slender man with bubble gum pink hair and a face full of pale white make up stood in front of them. He wore a court jester outfit with a star and tear drop painted in under his eye. His hands ended in long clawed nails and his outfit tightened in around his waist making his whole body feel disproportionate. The mans intense yellow eyes studied young Killua as if sizing him up.
"This is Hisoka. A powerful knight known for his abilities and will act as our court jester and body guard simultaneously," Illumi explained.
"Nice to meet you, Prince Killua," Hisoka stated as he bent into an awkward bow. His eyes stayed glued on Killua.
A shiver went down Killua's spine as Hisoka's eyes ran over him, but made an effort to keep in his discomfort.
"Thank you for working with my family." Killua rehearsed.
Hisoka gave a knowing wide smile and left the room with his hands crossed behind his back.
Killua let out a small sigh of relief as the room started to clear out all the tension that had built up.
"Do you know why father is adding so many new knights to our line up of guards?" Illumi asked.
Killua didn't want to be talking with Illumi any longer than he had to. They only ever crossed paths for meaningless introductions, events, and punishments. Illumi was nothing more than an intimidating stranger he shared the castle with. That's how he felt about almost everyone in the castle. They were all distant strangers who he was obligated to tolerate and listen to. The thought made Killua's blood boil.
