Killua felt the wagon sway from one side to the next. The driver was whistling some song he never heard and he scooted closer to Gon. His heart raced as he did."Just a little longer and then we'll jump." Gon whispered.
An excited shiver went down Killua's spin as Gon's voice reached his ears. He had never been this close to him before. He couldn't explain why though. He had never felt this way before.
"Okay it's time Killua!" Gon declared.
"Wait, what?" Killua whispered.
Gon took Killua's hand and stood up quietly. He walked him to the edge slowly. He held up three fingers. Then he put down one, then two, then they leapt off the wagon.
Killua felt a rush wash over him as he spent the slit second in the air hands wrapped around Gon's.
They crashed on the side of the dirt road and laid low until the wagon drove away.
Gon laughed and jumped up brushing off the dirt from his shirt. He then rushed over to Killua and helped him up.
"Thank you G-" Killua stopped himself mid sentence. His mind could hardly process everything that he saw.
Giant mountains surrounded them on all sides and giant tress in the distant that seemed to be the size of castles. Much smaller trees were scattered below the mountains and around them. Off the dirt path everything was covered in lush mint grass and bright purple flowers that seemed to randomly grow all around them. They looked like they were glowing. Killua turned around and saw a lake in the distance. Small creatures unlike any he had ever seen in the forest around the castle ran quickly past the line of sight of the two boys. Lights fell from the sky as fireflies danced around him. Killua looked up to a sky filled with shining stars that looked down on the magical land around them.
Killua looked around wildly trying to take everything in. "This is amazing!" He exclaimed.
"Just stick with me okay. I grew up in the mountains so I know what to do." Gon explained.
Killua nodded. He held out his hand to catch on of the lights. "What are these?" He asked Gon.
"These are nature lights. At least that's what I call them. The only ever fall when outside of town or city borders. They seem to help the plants grow. The more lights there are around the more flowers." Gon explained.
"Where do they come from?" Killua asked as he held it in his hands. It was warm and soft. It hovered over his hands.
"They only fall at night. People say they are seeds of the sun. Some plants just live off their life so they can close up in the day so they don't get eaten. They will just bounce off of humans and animals til they reach a plant." Gon explained.
Killua walked over to a purple flower and let the sun seed go. It drifted down to the flower and the flower seemed to take it in like rays of sunlight. It started to glow and shine.
"It's beautiful." Killua whispered to himself.
Gon laughed hearing his remark. "Nature is so cool, I don't know why anyone would choose to live anywhere else." Gon commented.
Killua couldn't help but think of how cold the castle would get and how still and dead everything felt inside it's walls. "I don't understand either." He replied.
