A few days have gone by and the (Y/n) still couldn't shake the wariness that had surrounded her entire being like a cocoon. It was unlike Light to keep secrets from her; in the three years she had known him, never once had he tried to keep her from finding out the truth. The only time she could even think of Light lying to her was because he was trying to surprise her for her birthday, so what is it that makes this situation different?

Had Light seen something he wasn't supposed to?

Or maybe he was meeting someone and didn't want anyone else around?

Damn it!

(Y/n) was frustrated with herself for letting her mind wander back to the situation with Light after trying so hard not to overthink it. At this point, it was almost instinctive that these thoughts were popping into her head. She needed something to distract herself from it all. Sighing in frustration, (Y/n) headed to the kitchen and opened up the fridge. Food always helped -- good food, that is. Surveying the shelves of the fridge, the (h/c) haired girl settled on a slice of cheesecake she had saved from the other day. She grabbed a fork and started shoveling it into her mouth like she hadn't eaten in days.

Walking over to the living room, she set the plate down and threw herself onto the couch, praying that she could find something good on TV. She clicked the on button and laid back, letting herself finally relax for once.

"We'd like to apologize for the interruption. As of now, we're bringing you a live worldwide broadcast from Interpol, ICPO"

"Hm," (Y/n) mumbled to herself out of wonder. She never really watched the news, but her curiosity got the best of her and that was enough to refrain herself from changing the channel.

Munching on her cheesecake, she turned the volume up and paid close attention to the broadcast.

"We now take you live to the ICPO," the TV continued.

"I head up on an International Police Task Force which includes all member nation," a man on the TV had said, "I am Lind L. Taylor, otherwise known as L."

"Criminals around the world are being murdered by a serial killer. I consider this crime to be the most atrocious act of murder in history. I will not rest until the person or persons responsible are brought to justice. Kira, I will hunt you down. I will find you."

L? Like the famous detective?

The truth is, (Y/n) had known a lot about L. Of course, she didn't know what L looked like until she turned on the TV or any major details like that, but she knew he was responsible for solving some of the world's largest crimes -- all without fail. When it comes to detective work, (Y/n) is kind of a nerd.

Lind L Taylor continued to speak on the television, and right when she was about to shut the TV off, the audience goes crazy. (Y/n) inched forward in her seat until she was practically falling off the edge and was in shock of what had just happened. The man who had presented himself as the great detective had collapsed, to which the only conclusion she could presume was that he was dead. His body looked too limp for him to be alive. (Y/n) grimaced and looked away from the TV, unsure if she could take any more of this.

No.

If you're going to be a detective, you need to be able to handle this.

She turned back to the TV to see a white screen with an old fashioned "L" written in the middle. Silencing her thoughts, she inched even further on the couch. This was something (Y/n) had never experienced in her life, nor did she think she ever would experience something like this.

"I had to test this, just in case, but I never thought it would actually happen. Kira... it seems you can kill people without having to be there in person," a distorted voice spoke from the speakers on the stage. A killer who didn't have to be there to kill his victims? A shiver was sent down her spine as she processed that information.
