To (Y/n), the hundreds of thoughts cascading through her head was no longer a rare occurrence; ever since she took on the Kira case, she's been able to imagine every possible scenario to a situation and thinking about what Light wanted to discuss with her was no exception. The girl was overwhelmed immensely as she thought about the seriousness in Light's voice. She had known the boy ever since she arrived in Japan, yet he has never acted the way he was acting now — it was almost like the Light she knew had been inhabited by some other being. She didn't know what it was that made Light sounusual now, but she supposed she couldn't rely on her aberrations to provide her with the truth she so desired, but rather just speak with her friend and figure out what was going on with him.No words were exchanged between the (H/c) haired girl and the brunette. Instead, he grabbed her wrist and led her away to a nearby bench that was unoccupied. Glancing over her shoulder, she found that the detective, who was now far enough away that he would be unable to hear anything, was gazing in their direction uneasily. "So," (Y/n) uttered, "what did you want to talk about, Light?"
Light began to scan the area, which (Y/n) assumed was to see if anyone was within earshot of their discussion before he began to speak.
"What's your relation with him, (Y/n)? L, I mean," he asked her, looking over at the detective who was now crouched on a bench near the tennis courts.
"What do you mean?" she responded ignorantly. She knew her best bet to keep their relationship, which she was still unsure where it lies, under wraps was to play dumb; if Light was Kira, this method would be the safest route to take to ensure not only the detective's safety but her own as well.
"Don't play dumb, (Y/n)."
Well, that plan backfired.
"He's my boss, Light. We work together."
"There's something else there. I mean did you see how weird he got at the entrance ceremony yesterday? I didn't even do anything and he started to get crazy possessive and controlling of you."
The girl stayed silent, as she could no longer remain ignorant — it would be too evident it was an act; she had to change her strategy.
"I guess I'd consider him a friend. I mean, we have occasional conversations while we're working. That's all there is. I'm not sure why he acted the way he did yesterday, but I don't think it was for any specific reason."
Also, he kissed me yesterday, but that's not important.
(Y/n) knew why L did what he did that day — he confessed everything to her: how he felt about her, why he felt that way, and why he acted out. The worst part of it all was that she didn't even have conflicting feelings toward the man. If anything, she felt the same way about him but the only problem was that they were working together; her parents always told her that office romances never turned out well because both of them had experienced the awkwardness of still working beside them after they had broken up, yet there was something about L that made her want to take that chance.
"I find that hard to believe," Light told her, a small smirk growing on his face.
She was taken aback by his response, wondering if he could see right through her — wondering if she was being too obvious about her feelings toward the detective. She wondered if perhaps he could tell her mind wandered after speaking about L, or if her tone was completely off. Regardless of what he was thinking, she needed to know, "why do you say that, Light?"
"Ever since you moved here you've always been the quiet kid until I took you in as my friend. We did everything together, and the only time I've ever seen you hang out with somebody other than me was with your parents. It's obvious that I'm your only friend, so cut the crap. You have a thing for the detective, don't you (Y/n)? And if that's the case then it looks like he's reciprocated those feelings, hasn't he? How sweet."
"Light, knock it off,"
"If L's told you he has feelings for you already, then I guess it's my turn isn't it?"
"Light—"
"(Y/n), listen. I like you, okay? So just give me a shot."
"Why would I do that when you're being an absolute dick?"
The words slipped out of her mouth effortlessly, yet unintentionally. At this point, the girl was trembling quite noticeably, and she was poorly attempting to conceal it.
Light went silent for a moment before breaking out into laughter — the kind of laughter that's loud enough to attract attention from bystanders, and that's what it did. (Y/n) looked over by the tennis courts and saw L, once again, staring at her and Light. She looked back at Light, who now had a large smirk on his face, before returning her gaze to the raven-haired detective. "Promise not to freak out if I tell you something, (Y/n)?" Light whispered with the same smirk on his face.
She turned to face Light, feeling the detective's stare still on her. She opened her mouth to speak, only to be met with another pair of lips on hers: Light's. Frantically, she tried pushing him away only for him to grab the back of her neck and prevent her from moving. After struggling for what seemed like forever, she finally broke free.
"What the fuck, Light?" she screamed at the boy, still trying to process what just happened. She turned her head to look over at the detective but was swiftly stopped by the palm of Light's hand on her cheek, preventing her from turning her neck. Never in her life had she been so appalled by the brunette sitting beside her; she had never feared him before but at this moment, she was terrified.
"Oh and by the way," he leaned into the girl's ear and whispered, "I'm Kira."

A/N: Sorry that this chapter was shorter than the others but I wanted to finish it before I left the house and I'm also a massive dick and like to leave chapters off on cliffhangers.
I also wrote part of this while I was in the shower (yes I brought my phone into the shower) and surprisingly I typed better than normal.
Anyways even though it's shorter I hope you still enjoy reading.
