"Have a seat, love," L whispered to (Y/n), gesturing to the couch in front of the TV, "make yourself comfortable, I'll be right back." The detective excitedly scurried to the other room, leaving (Y/n) wondering what he was doing. That boy, though adorable, made her wonder what went through his head sometimes; he was a total mystery. There was something about his peculiarities that she liked, however; she never knew what was going to happen next and she enjoyed that.
"Okay, I'm back, close your eyes," the boy said, his voice filled with elation.
"Why do I have to close my eyes?" she questioned back.
"Just do it, come on."
"Fine"
The young girl smiled as she heard L scrambling around the room, accidentally bumping into objects and curing upon doing so.
"Open them," he told her after a few minutes. (Y/n) obeyed his command and opened her eyes, a strange sight before her; L was giggling and smiling like a little kid. She noticed that the table before her was now covered with an assortment of sweets: candied strawberries, chocolates, cookies, cakes. A rose-colored teapot occupied the center of the table with two cups and saucers that matched.
"Oh, L, I love it," she told him. His eyes lit up and his smile widened.
"Wait! I forgot something, hold on." The raven-haired boy quickly made his way back to the other room and returned with his arms filled with pillows and blankets. He threw the pile down on the nearest chair to free his hands before picking up a pillow and handing it to (Y/n).
"For you, darling," he added as he draped a few blankets over her before kissing her forehead.
He crouched on the sofa beside her, the giant smile still plastered on his face. He stared at the girl in admiration, examining all the features on her face. He liked the way her lips twitched upward into a smile and the way her eyes twinkled in excitement. He liked the way she looked at him and the way she made him feel. He liked it all even though he had never expected to; he had never expected anyone to be able to make him embrace these feelings he had never felt before, let alone understood.
(Y/n) scooted closer to L, snuggling into his arm and closing her eyes softly. She brushed her fingers along the side of his face, slowly stroking them up and down; she could feel his cheeks curving into a smile. The detective took his hand and maneuvered her head to face him before leaning in to plant a gentle and soft, yet long and passionate kiss on her lips.
"I really love you," he told her after breaking the kiss, "I know it sounds weird for me to say but I do."
"And I love you," she mumbled back before drifting off to sleep.

The starry heavens soon turned crimson as the sun began to radiate. The detective had the tapes on a loop, as he was only half focused on them in the first place; the girl lightly snoring beside her piqued his interest far more. He was mesmerized by (Y/n) - astounded. He enjoyed watching her; she seemed so peaceful. A knock at the door interrupted his thoughts. For now, he had to find a way to cover up his relationship with the girl within a matter of seconds.
"Just one moment!" L shouted, frantically shaking (Y/n) to wake her up. The now awake girl squinted her eyes at the detective and covered her head with the blankets so as not to be disturbed again.
"God damn it," he mumbled to himself, picking (Y/n) up and throwing her over his shoulder. Quickly moving to the bedroom, he tossed her on the bed and pecked her cheek before going back out to the TV.
"Come in!" he yelled as he quickly sat up on the couch.
"Wow, Ryuzaki, look at all these blankets! And all these pillows, too! You'd think you were trying to make a fort or something," Matsuda chuckled and took one of the blankets to wrap around himself.
