Holiday Application

Tao: So ah, Tewkao, I was wondering...

Tewkao: What? You are sitting really near to me. Move it. 

Tao: Hey, don't be mean khrub, I just want to ask you something. 

Tewkao: What? Please be quick, I need win this game round and can't pause for long. 

Tao: Ok ok, you see, my leave application for vacation got approved. 

Tewkao: So? 

Tao: That means I will get some time off, a week to be exact, starting Friday evening after my shift. 

Tewkao: And? 

Tao: And....I was wondering if....

Tewkao: If? 

Tao: If...you would like to go somewhere with me? 

Tewkao: Ok sure. 

Tao: Wow, really? 

Tewkao: Yeah, it would be fun. I don't mind going out with you, Wan, Chalan and Paebii. P'Tan thought I should go out more too. Where are we going? 

Tao: I was thinking Phuket but-

Tewkao: Sure, I haven't been to Phuket since forever, beaches, fun. I need sunscreen. When do we leave? 

Tao: I was thinking Saturday morning but-

Tewkao: Cool, I have enough time for shopping then. Do you need anything? Never mind, I'll get you extra sunscreen and whatever I think you need, I think you need lots and you are already this tanned. So-

Tao: Tikao! 

Tewkao: What? 

Tao: Let me finish. 

Tewkao: Ou, aren't you? Ok, go on. 

Tao: Ok, here goes. 

Tewkaolooks at Dao, confused. 

Tao: Would you like to go on a trip with me? 

Tewkao: Ou, didn't I say yes already? What's with the question again?

Tao: No, no, only with me. No Wan, no Chalan, no Paebii, just me. Would you like to go on a trip, with just me? 

Tewkaois lost for words. A trip, only the two of them? But...

Tewkao: Why?

Tao swallows. 

Tao: Well, we are friends now. Besides, as medical doctors and staff, we can't all afford to take leaves all together, so that's why, for this trip, if you are ok, it will only be the both of us, three days two nights or two days one night would be fine, whichever convenient for you.  

Tewkao thought he feels his face warm up. Maybe he thought too much. 

Tao: So? 

Tewkao: That means, this trip will be only you and me?

Tao: That's the meaning of just two of us. So...what do you say? 

Tao gives him the hopeful puppy face. Tewkao feels his heartbeat quicken as Tao comes nearer to him with hopeful eyes. 

Tao: Na? Na, na, na, come with me na? I will pay for the the flights and hotels and food. You just need to pay for my sunscreen. Deal?

Tewkao: Why must it be the two of us? 

Tao's gaze changes to a more serious tone. Even his voice was a tone lower. 

Tao: Tewkao, I think you know why. 

Tewkao's turn to swallow. 

Tao: I don't expect us to be anything more than friends now but with this trip, I will know if there is any chance or any hope of change between us, if you are willing to explore with me. 

Tewkao bites his lips. Hope of change. If this is someone else, Tewkao would say no thanks in a heartbeat but somehow when it comes to Dao, he starts to notice his hesitations.

Tao: So? 

Tewkao sees the determination in Tao. Fine.

Tewkao: Ah, fine. Three days two nights but if you annoy me I will leave earlier, get? 

Tao: OK! YES! Don't worry! I promise I wouldn't annoy you too much na ja! Oh, oh, I'll buy the flight tickets so send me your passport number na, I'll call you to remind you ok? 

Tewkao: Ok, fine. Now please leave my house, you are here long enough. 

Tao: Ou, I'm waiting for Chalan to finish lunch with your sister down the kitchen, not my fault he dragged me along when your sister called. Oh, lend me your computer then, we can buy the tickets right now. 

Tewkao: Fine...come to my room then. 

Tao: WOW! I get to go to your room!? YES! 

Tewkao: Just, don't jump on my bed ok? I don't like my bed being messy. 

Tao: *Mumbles to himself* I prefer jumping pants. 

Tewkao: You said something? 

Tao: No, no, let's go now! 

Tewkao: Weirdo. 

-Aftermath-

Wan: Yo dude, my leave's approved. 

Paebii: Yeah, mine too. 

Chalan: Yup, mine too! Now we can all go to PHUKET! YES! Dao, you'll buy the tickets? 

Tao: Ummm, about the Phuket trip, I'll be going but umm, I'm ditching you guys. 

Wan: Excuse me, what? 

Paebii: Like yeah you asshole, you said we should all go for a group trip and here we all took leaves for the damn trip.

Tao: Well, something came up and umm, a little change in plans. 

Chalan: Aha! I knew it. You'll elope with Tewkao! 

Wan: Huh? You are getting married you asshole? 

Tao: No! Not yet! But it wasn't easy to get him to go with me so please, cut me some slack alright?

Paebii: Hor, you are the type to ditch friends over lovers. Ass but ah well, never mind, I have my own shit to do as well with P'Peng. You better bring me snacks from Phuket. 

Wan: Yeah, snacks for me too. I guess I can stay back and spend some time with P'Tikka then. Chalan, you?

Chalan: Yeah, I can finally take my Tantawan for proper dates. All the best buddy but if you piss off Tewkao and he complains to his sister and his sister comes for you, you are on your own. 

Tao: Yeah, don't worry, I'll sweep the little prince off his feet. Sure. 

Wan, Paebii and Chalan flip him the bird as good luck.

Update 02.01.2021: Decided to change Tikao = Tewkao / Dao = Tao to match their pronunciations.
