*Note: Listening Fake News still. This is an alternate universe story about a rich patron visiting a club to watch a club singer performing.
Another Story, Again 03
The Moon
"And that was the last song for the evening. Thank you so much for listening ladies and gentlemen, see you again next week, same days same time," I said after I ended my last song. My audience gave me an encouraging round of applause as usual. Tonight, the club was full house but as usual, I still spotted him easy by the counter. I got up from my high chair and took my champagne glass. He bought me a drink again but unlike the first time, he had the bar waiter sent it to me this time.
Behind me, Key was busy switching the correct settings on his panels to broadcast the original club songs. The same old nostalgic city pop or jazz songs that makes you want to day dream, or night dream. I took a sip of my champagne as I watched Key pack.
Key, without looking at me asked, "Need a lift home or staying back with Mr Pink Champagne?" I chuckle every time Key called him Mr Pink Champagne. I shook my head. I think I want to stay a bit. Key looked up and his usual smirk formed too on his face. "Ok friend, tomorrow's Sunday, I guess you get to have a bit of fun,"
"Not a bit, a lot. We finished our final presentation and exam just yesterday. We deserve the break," I reminded him. He slumped his guitar case over his shoulder and patted my shoulder. "Then you have all the fun but just a reminder...."
I stared at him, trying to guess what he was going to say, definitely something inappropriate. Let me cut him first.
"What, reminding me to use protection?"
"No, reminding you he could be some hidden serial killer,"
"Nasty," I punched him playfully. "Oh and use protection too. Don't need to be uncle to your babies now," I turned my tongue to him. He laughed, rather loudly. Thank goodness no one was really paying attention to our conservation.
"You should really go now. He is staring at you all night now, poor sucker," I turned to his direction. There he was smiling, dimples showing, waving at me. Key pushed me from behind to urge me to walk.
"Actually, he looks pretty sincere, it's been like three months since you guys talked the first time right? It's so obvious he is head over heels for you,"
"I know," Well yeah, I am not that oblivious.
"Good you noticed and it's as obvious you feel something for him too," I stopped for a bit. Key bumped into me. "Dude, don't just stop like this. Anyway, Nat is waiting for me. I think you want to think about what's going between you guys for real. If you don't feel what he feels, well, you know what to do. See ya," Key patted me on the shoulder after handing me my hand bag and promptly left the club.
As I walked towards him smiling. Like Key said, it was three month since we started talking. After getting to know him better and learning he wasn't that of those typical rich young masters who flaunts their background, I finally asked for his name. His real name.
Kin A.
The third son and one of the heirs to one of the top elite conglomerate businessman in the country.
"Nice to meet you Kin. My name is Kit A. Not an heir to an elite family though. I have an older sister, mother and father. Dad owns a small renovation company and mom is housewife," I teased trying to ease the tension after he look concerned after he said his name.
"I umm, wouldn't be the heir, with my two brothers around...," from his tone, he doesn't sound too confident. I decided not to pry. If he doesn't want to tell, he doesn't have to.
From then on, we became friends. We exchanged contact and started texting each other. His texts started our sparing but recently grew much frequent. I wonder if receiving constant texts from him throughout the day was too much? Key seemed to think so but I didn't mind him since he doesn't demand that I respond to his every line of texts. I felt comfortable. With him. It was only recently that I caught myself starting to think about him more often too.
"Thanks for the drink again," I said loud enough for him to hear over the music. He stood up to ease me to my top chair seat. I didn't know you could gentleman ease someone onto a high chair. I parked my chair on my lap and gesture to toast with our drinks. Him with his usual glass of whiskey.
"Cheers to, your voice," he said. I smiled, "And cheers to, your...studies and helping with your dad," we tinkled our glasses and each took a sip.
"Are you done with your exams?" he asked after sipping. I nodded. I am done for college, at least for now and I told him that. "So what are you going to do after? Take over your dad's business?"
He asked that in all seriousness. I smiled and shook my head. "I don't think I am ready to do that. I think I'll work outside for a bit before going back. Gain a little experiences and connections that will be useful. Have a bit of fun," I said. He was looking at me, listening to me. I stopped speaking and look back. It felt comfortable between us without having to exchange any words.
"Then you'll continue to sing?" he asked after a while. Singing eh? I never thought of this more than a part time gig. I don't dislike working at this club but making singing a long term career doesn't sound feasible for me either.
"I don't know. Singing long term doesn't sound too feasible for me. It started as a hobby. I guess it will stay that way. Why? You are asking as if you will miss my singing?" I meant what I said as tease but he grabbed my free hand immediately.
"Yes,"
His one word of confirmation echoed in my ears.
"You have no idea how seeing you sing saved me,"
He took both my hands into his and tightly grip them. His Adam's apple moved as he cleared his voice. I smelled a hint of whiskey from his breath as he edged nearer and nearer to my face until our lips barely touched.
"May I kiss you?"
He asked for my permission to kiss. I could hear my own heart beats picking up in pace. I nodded gently.
Our brief lips touching turned into deeper lips touching.
His lips might need an additional boost of lip balm next time but right now, it felt right.
