Chapter 37: Bliss in Private
I only had three hours of sleep after finishing two chapters last night. When I looked at the mirror, the bags under my eyes were too noticeable that I suddenly regretted sleeping late. However, because I was anxious and excited, I couldn't even bring myself to sleep so I just decided to use that energy to write stories.
And that made me more fired up. Especially after reading the comments.
ladyindisguise: Oh my god!!! Finally!!! Elena's opening up to the 4th Prince. I'm so soft for them~
queenofthenight: Don't you just love how Prince Cairo didn't force her when she said she didn't want to live her life in the palace even if it meant not being together most of the time?
knightmare: I do like how Elena chose to be happy away from people's eyes because she knows how cruel rumors could go
ladyinwaiting: I feel sorry for the prince tho since he's the one who's always adjusting. But glad that Elena's starting to step into his world, too, so that they can meet halfway
It was a bit surprising that most of the readers were able to read and comment even though I posted it at 2 A.M. Well, I guess because it was already weekend.
Despite the sluggishness, I started preparing and took a bath. When I went to downstairs, Xander was already in the living room, drinking his coffee while checking his phone.
"What a rare sight," he remarked. "Aga mong nagising."
"Ikaw rin, ah," I retorted.
"Of course, I have to be ready," he said, a hint of sternness on his voice. "Dad's not here so I'll be the one talking to him."
Somehow, he learned that Gisel asked me on a date and told me that he should meet me here instead of somewhere else. I didn't want to burden him, but he said it's alright. I want to know more about you, he added.
"You know, I checked his background and he seems okay," he noted, still scrolling on his phone. He turned to my direction and gave me a suspicious look. "You sure this guy likes you."
My eyes narrowed at his contemptuous comment, but also felt embarrassed because of it. "S-shut up, Xander."
"Ya," he interjected. "Where's the honorifics? Watch your manners."
"You don't deserve it," I muttered.
Before it could turn into an argument, I returned to my room and started thinking of a suitable outfit for today but gave up halfway. I didn't even know what would look good on me. Among the four of us, Steff, I think, had the best sense in fashion but I didn't want to disturb her because she might be studying.
Just when I was about to give up hope, I received a message from Ate Mau, asking if my brother is at home. It turned out they had a small argument last night and she wanted to make it up to him as it was her fault this time. So, that was why he seemed to be in bad mood today.
I told her he's here and excitedly agreed to help me in choosing a nice dress. Since she lives in a nearby village, I came running downstairs when she said she was already in our village. Xander gave me a funny look and I smirked in return.
"What? He's here already?"
I ignored his question and opened the door for Ate Mau.
"Ate!" I beamed.
"Baby!" she returned as she hugged me tight.
It only took him a second to choke on his coffee. His expression was so hilarious that I regretted not taking a photo of it.
