Jack POV

Soon enough the car came to a stop in front of a humble small house. Elsa got out and went into the house with Elijah nestled in her hands.
"I messed up big this time, didn't I?" I groaned as I got out and took all the suitcases with me out into the living room of the house.
The house wasn't empty, there were a few pieces of furniture scattered around.
I went into the hallway and found the room Elsa was in. She was setting Elijah down on the bed and checking his diaper.
"I can set up the crib for him." I spoke trying to get a reaction from Elsa. But she just nodded her head and grabbed the diaper bag to change Elijah's diaper.
I bit my lip and went to the living room to grab the kit and assembled the crib in a different room. As soon as I finished I felt Elsa's hand wrap around my shoulders.
"Why did you say that about my dad?" she asked as her chin touched my shoulder and she spoke with her lips tightly shut into a frown.
"I don't know, babe. It's just... I don't know. He didn't exactly treat me like he would his own son... I guess that's just... can we not do this." I pleaded as I threw my head back and shut my eyes. "I'll just sleep on the couch. I don't want to fight right now."
I could feel her eyes toss daggers into me. I opened my eyes and turned to her. I guess I look pretty miserable because the next thing I knew she was cupping my face and looking deep into my eyes, as if she was trying to read me.
"What's wrong? tell me." she whispered trying to uncover my unknown stress.
I ran my hands through my hair and thought wether or not to tell her. I knew what was bothering me-- my dad. I looked into her eyes and nodded. I should tell her. She's my future wife, mother of my unborn child, and adoptive mother of Elijah. She had the right to know.
"Ok, sit..." I told her as I pulled her to sit on my legs and laid her head down on my chest.
"Is it the pregnancy?" she asked softly as she stiffened in my arms.
"No! of course not!" i half yelled. My yelling almost woke Elijah as we both held our breaths as the baby monitor played sounds of him stirring and slightly fussing before it goes quiet again.
She sighs in relief and hugs me close. "Then what is it?"
"It's my dad. When we went to thanksgiving with my mom, and I went out to talk to him..." I said trying to refresh both mine and Elsa's memory.
"Did you two fight? you looked very upset when you came back in." she commented as her arms wrapped tighter around my chest and her head settled in the space between my head and shoulder.
"Not exactly, but I kind of wanted to punch him in the face." I admitted with a clenched fist.
"What did he do?" she asked with a softening tone that helped me calm my nerves.
"It's not what he did but what he's doing." I sighed as my feet started shaking from how nervous I was becoming.
"I'm sorry, it's just he told me a lot of things that I didn't want to know... turns out he's not the greatest father. I mean I remember he was gone a lot but I always thought he was out on business... that's what he told mom. That's what he told us." I stayed quite for a bit and Elsa let me calm down as I pushed back tears. "He's actually never wanted to have us. He didn't say why except that it was too hard."
"Jack, look at me. You're not like him. You're nothing like him." She told me as she climbed up my chest and laid down on me.
"Sorry, honey. I know I made you upset."
"It's okay, jack. I know you didn't mean to hurt me."
"I never do."
She smiled and grabbed my hand and we unpacked the rest of the things for the bedroom and tried putting our Elijah back to sleep. He had trouble sleeping so we stayed up till midnight to get him to sleep.
We went to our bed and went to sleep.
The next morning there was a knock on the door.
"Uh! it's like 7 in the morning! who is up at this hour!?" I complained and looked up to see Elsa's already up and out of the shower.
"I am, it's just that you're lazy." She joked and threw her towel on my head.
"Should I get the door?" I asked as I got up and kissed her cheek.
"Would you." she smiled.
I went to open the door and I see her father looking back at me.
"Jack!" he yelled loudly waking up Elijah and causing Elsa to run to our direction.
"Dad, please." she begged as she brought me closer and looked at her dad in his cold blue eyes.
Without a word he stepped in and sat down on one of the chairs of the dinner table.
