Starr Marie

"I think we should call off the wedding." I say standing at the bathroom sink as Damon stands at the door frame behind me.

A few days have passed and the wedding feels closer and closer. The whole point of the wedding was for my 'parents' benefit. I definitely did not want them to gain anything when all they did was lie and taunt me. Therefore stopping the wedding is the most reasonable choice.

"I'd like to think you have a valid reason for that idea." Damon expression appears confused.

I turn from the sink taking steps into Damon's direction, "Well.." I grab Damon's hands as they engulf mine. "I think that because my 'parents' aren't my parents and all they did was lie about my life, they don't deserve whatever you're giving them."

He slowly nods his head in agreement. "Reasonable."

He brakes our hands from each other wrapping his arms around my lower back. "Can you generously inform me about the deal you and my parents made?" I curiously ask. I mean— if I going to be a sacrifice it better be for a legitimate reason.

A knowing look crossed his face, "Are you certain that you want to know?"

I cross my arms. "Yeah. I'd love to know the background."

"Well," Damon sighs. "Your parents weren't exactly rich as they presented themselves."

"What?" I ask in confusion.

He take a loose strand of my hair pushing it behind my ear. Then his eyes focused back on mine. "They believed that an arrangement would be perfect for them. I get the full title by having a wife. And they get money, and I stash at their home."

"Money?" I question him.

"If I'm not mistaken," Damon responds as a joke.
Anger must have been shown through my expression, because Damon tried to calm me down, "But, I'll cut the ties if you don't feel comfortable."

I take a deep breath realizing that for Damon, this is a business thing.

"No. I just don't feel as though they deserve something that big," Reassurance runs along my face."It's just that I don't see the point of us rushing our relationship for people who don't care for us."

A smirk tugs at the corner of Damon's lips, "So you think this is an relationship?"

I laugh as I playfully push his chest, "I mean we could easily change that. I know a lot of other guys." That was lie but Damon doesn't know that. Well at least I think he doesn't know.

"Maybe we can invite you little friend over," He says in sarcasm.

I laugh. "Great I'll just call him," I take my phone out of my pocket. I go the call log and look for Leah's name. I dial her number and watch the expression on his face go from emotionless to slightly angry.

"Hey girl," Leah says on the other end of the line.

I smile at Damon. "Hey Liam. How are you?" Damon clenched his jaw in anger.

"Starr sweetie," Leah says in confusion. "I think you dialed the wrong number."

"Oh no," I laugh. "Liam. I have a friend that would like to meet you." Damon rolls his eyes.

"Oh," Leah says on the other line. "You're fucking with Damon's manhood. I like it!"

I laugh at her response. "Would you like to come over for dinner?"

"Yeah girl I'll be over! He's going to be so pissed," She jokes on the other end.

"Well great," I respond. "Can't wait to see you babe. Alright. Bye," I hang up the phone, sloping it in my back pocket.
