Damon King

I can't imagine how Starr is feeling right now. She offered to do this mission to save us, but it seems as though the people least expected gotten hurt.

Does she know that her dad is currently bleeding out? Do she know that this was his plan all along?

I remember what he was saying earlier. He knew he wasn't going to be able to express his love for his daughter. A part of me wonder if he's okay with her not knowing.

Even if he wasn't a father to her, Starr is a person who remembers and forgives people because she has a kind heart. And as much as she hates it, her kind heart has saved her from many things.

All except from me.

"Why did he fücking do that? Is he fücking stupid?" I yell at Dimitri.

"Damon, this is not the time or place. Take a break and sit down," Dimitri suggests as if I was going to listen to him.

I frown. "He just risked his fucking life," I call out. "Do you not see that? I can't sit here and watch another person leave her."

"Damon," He calmly says before putting his hand on my shoulder. I shrug my shoulder watching his hand fall to his side. "If you have learned anything from being with Starr, you know that she is a fighter and a survivor."

I nod my head. "Yeah. But if she gets hurt that would be a whole different story, wouldn't you think?"

"She's going to be the heir of the Brava mafia, she's going to experience pain," He explains. "And I thought you didn't really like her dad."

"I don't," I snap at his comment. "And putting her in pain before she has the chance to be the heir is a bit of an understatement.. isn't it? Especially if it's a pain she can't come from."

"You're right..." He stares at me blankly.

I tap my forehead. "That still does not justify the fact that he put himself in the position to add to those people," I take a deep breath taking all my problems in. "She's going to be fucking pissed."

"Starr will be fucking pissed if he lives or dies," Dimitri jokes as we stand in the hallway of Ivan's home.

We laugh for a few seconds then we stop. Silence roars over us as we look at the white walls thinking about the night we just had.

"As many times as I go though this, this is by far the worst mission I've witnessed," I unexpectedly say, pulling Dimitri out of his thoughts.

He agrees. "Yeah. Two people were shot and the person who's supposed to be my leader is possibly going to be sad and devastated."

I sigh. Only because he's right.

Starr has grown closer with Grayson. As annoying as it sounds, he was there protecting her when I was on the outlines creating new plans. I'm not surprised she gained a substantial relationship with one who was there to protect her.

And Ivan. Even if she didn't have a close relationship with her father, that uncomprehending father-daughter connection is still there.

As much as I hate to admit it, I have one with mine. We just push it away because there's no going back after all our history.

"Would you ever want to marry her?" Dimitri brings me out of my thoughts.

Confusion falls onto my face. "What?" I ask confused on how that thought comes into our conversation.

"Would the process of marriage ever become a plan for you?" He repeats himself. "And if so... would that plan include being with Starr?"

Squinting my eyes in confusion, "Is this one of those things where I have to ask for your blessings?" I sarcastically say. "Because not to long ago... we were on the verge of getting married without your beloved consent."
