Starr Marie

"Okay what's wrong?" Antonio ask me as we walk into the house.

I roll my eyes because this is the 100th time he's asked me since we got in his car of the ride from his mothers house. It being the next day still doesn't make any of this easier.

So, I still don't answer.

He shuts the door behind us letting out a deep breath, "Starr. Please." He calls out, "Starr speak to me. Talk to me. Why aren't you talking to me."

"Because," I call out catching him off guard but also myself off guard in a way. "You just brought me to your moms house. With no words of advice before hand." He just looks at me, "But you also left me there alone. We are not even together and here I am meeting your parents."

I say angry because I dragged her into something that's she didn't need to be involved in.

He takes a step forward and grab my hands. I try so hard to not want to resist to his touch. It felt indifferent and uncomfortable.

"I'm sorry. If I didn't have a business call I would not have thrown you to the wolves," He says giving an sincere expression. "It was also wrong of me to not tell you where we were going. I just thought that it would be cool of you to meet my mom on the day I go see her."

It seems as all he does it say I'm right and apologize. Of course, I don't disagree with that because I know that at some points, I will be right.

But, his manipulation— making me feel as though I have control over the situation— angers me. And even though it doesn't work on me anymore, I find it upsetting that at one point I was oblivious to his ways.

"I'm only forgiving you because this was bound to happen," I say with a fake reassuring tone.

"Okay," He pulls me into a hug as he looks in my eyes, "And because you love me."

"Yes," I say looking back at him. "Because I love you." He smiles at me and plants a kiss on my forehead.

I look back up into his eyes. "Do you have Ice cream?" I ask trying to change the direction of what's about to happen next.

He lets out a little laugh. "We should have some somewhere in this house."

"Where," I fake beg, waiting for him to lead me to the kitchen.

Antonio nods his head, grabbing my hand and leading me to the kitchen. I force out a laugh.

"We're almost there," He says pulling me to the kitchen.

I let out a gasp. "Why is your kitchen so far?"

"We're going to my personal kitchen, not the main one," He explains before he pushed open a door. He walks to a refrigerator and opens it pulling out two tubs of ice cream. "So we have vanilla and chocolate."

I frown at the choices. "Are you serious? Those are the most basic flavors you could ever get," I let out a little laugh.

"Hey, if you want ice cream the options are these."

"Do you at least have caramel syrup?" I ask honestly. He looks in the fridge and pull out caramel syrup. "I knew you wouldn't disappoint me."

"I never disappoint," He smirks as if he spoke somewhat the truth.

I grab the caramel from his grip. "Let's make this from basic to bougie."

Once we finished making our ice cream, we sat at the table talking about random stuff. Honestly, none of it helped my case so I changed the direction.

"So... you have siblings?" I ask waiting for a response or some type of reaction.

He brings his hands through his hair and sits back in the chair. "Yes." It's all he says while I sit looking at him.

"Can I know more about them?" I push him for answers.

He look at me with a tense expression. "Not much to say."

"Oh come on," I call out. "You literally know more about me. All I want to know about is your siblings. You don't have to say anything about yourself, although that defeats the purpose of us being a couple."

I let couple slip out on purpose.

"Couple?" He questions with a confused expression.

I act as if I'm embarrassed. "I mean I didn't mean it like that but eventually." He nods his head as a smile appears on his lips. "So... siblings?"

He sits up in his seat. "Well... I met them almost a few months after you left." I let a sad expression cross my face to act as if I felt guilty in some way. Though I knew that was a lie. "They were both living with my mom—struggling. Barely living in a way that I wish they were." He pauses. "But, I was also struggling too. You know me being adopted into a family where I felt like I was just adopted." I frown at his statement.

He crosses his arms. "We began to talk, and I told them that I would help them get on their feet. And let's just say that now I am closer with one sibling than the other."

I realize that he meant he's closer with Angelina than Alik. Because she's actually doing his dirty work for him.

"That's nice," I call out. "You found your real family." He nods his head but doesn't respond back, "How do you feel about your adoptive parents?"

"Umm?" He pauses as I look at him waiting for an answer. "I'll say that they're okay, but I feel as though my dad cares more about what he's lost than what he has now."

I shake my head. "Does that mean family?"

"His kid," He replied back. "He cares more about the kid that he willing gave up than me."

Wait what?

Ivan cares about me? He never showed active kindness towards me. He never came to find me. He never just explained to me that he cared.

Or I just didn't want to listen.

I drop my eyebrows to radiate a sad expression. "I'm so sorry you were treated like that," I lie, "I hope one day he would see you for who you are."

He drops his gaze low and grab my hand. "Yeah, I hope one day he will too."
