Starr Marie
"Hey," I say awkwardly, in the same position I stood not long ago.
My dad, Ivan smiles as if he missed me. "Hey sweetheart." As if he was done with me in those few seconds, he glances over my shoulder, paying no attention to me. I follow his eyes in confusion to find what he was deeply interested in.
And damn I was reminded of how fine Damon looked today.
I stared at Damon in amusement, taking in all the things that made him look so handsome today. He wore a bright tan suit with back lining on the edges, black button up just beneath, black-red bottom dress shoes, and black shades, as the sun raids on his clear skin.
With one hand, he fixed his suit, the other, he held a black suit case.
I look back to my dad with a smile. "Honestly, I can't figure out why I was exactly jealous of Meridith Gray's life, when this is absolutely fücking better."
"Who?" He says with a confused expression.
"Right," I say knowingly. "I forgot you are a little old in that area."
"I wouldn't use the term little," Damon jokes towards my dad. "Pardon me. But ancient would fit the moment better, don't you think?"
I shift my eyes between them.
I didn't know what was going to happen... and part of me was nervous to see. Both my dad, and my fiancé, Damon, have strong personality's. A mafia. And people who fear them.
You would think they would get along.
Now I finally understand what people meant by 'when people are so alike, they don't like one who resembles them' because they see the same flaws they have amongst themselves.
My dad finally laughs. "Damon, I wouldn't have thought that you had humor and room for jokes. I'll add that to the list of pros about you."
"Wait!" I stop my dad, in shock. "You're suggesting that you have a list?"
"Darling," My dad states. "If you haven't caught on by now...it was a joke."
Both Damon and my dad laugh. Fist bumping each other, returning greetings to each other, as if they didn't hate each other.
I smile, sarcastically. "And if I had a list, I would note the bipolar actions that are being performed today."
"Bipolar?" My dad questions, with his hand on his chin.
I skim both of them. Trying to figure out if they were playing nice because they had one common enemy: Luca.
Staring at them laugh and joke, I saw why the stereotypes of men forgetting the past is common. A few weeks ago... my dad and Damon would have killed each other. Now they're all buddy buddy, or Dad-in-law and son-in-law.
The past plays before my eyes confusing me.
I nod my head forward, changing the subject of jokes to reality. "So... we're here and I can't help but feel anxiously nervous about how all of this is going to play out on my end."
"Don't be," My dad returns to his normal state.
Shrugging my shoulders in disagreement, I stare blankly into my dads eyes. "I'm sure Antonio made many enemies. And the one's whom are his allies would not like the fact that I'm taking over."
Damon nods. "That correlates to more alleged danger, which we are not seeking for."
"I suppose me running background checks on those whom grown close to Brava, should be done?" I nod my head to my dads suggestion. "It's just a few things we should talk about pertaining to that. And speaking on running checks, you're welcome to see Issac if you're up for it."
