Ryker had slept in with you and Tom for a few days. Every time you had put him to bed, he would come into your room and crawl in between you and Tom

You: Spidey?

Tom: Yeah?

You: I'm really worried about Ryker

Tom: I am too. He's been in with us for a week

You: I know, that's what worries me

Tom: Well, good thing he goes to Dr. Louis today

You: Yeah, maybe we can finally get answers

Ryker: Mom?

You: Yeah bubs?

Ryker: Are you and dad both coming today?

You: Yes. Is that okay?

Ryker: Yeah. I didn't know if you guys had work

Tom: We did, but we took the day off bubs

You: Why don't you go get ready, so we can go?

He runs off and you and Tom finish up. You grab some breakfast and head to the appointment. Tom carried Ryker on his back while holding your hand

Nurse: How can I help you today?

You: I'm checking in Ryker Holland

Nurse: You're all set

You: Great, thank you so much

You go sit next to Tom

Tom: Alright bubs, you need to be honest today

You: Yeah, Dr. Louis is here to help you, not hurt you. And dad and I can step out if you want it to be private

Ryker: I'll think about it

Nurse: Ryker Holland

Tom: Let's go bubs

Ryker's on Toms back again, and you're following behind

Dr. Louis: Hello Hollands, how are we?

Ryker: I wish I was better

Dr. Louis: What's going on?

Ryker gives you that look, and you and Tom step into the hallway

Dr. Louis: Are you okay?

Ryker: No, the nightmares are so bad

Dr. Louis: Why?

Ryker: I stood up to the lady, and she's gone, but now it's a guy

Dr. Louis: Who is it?

Ryker: It turns out its mom's brother

Dr. Louis: What happened?

Ryker: He tried to take me, my sister, and my cousins

Dr. Louis: Take?

Ryker: Yeah. He was unsuccessful and now he's gone, but no matter what I do, it doesn't stop

Dr. Louis: Well...

Ryker: And I try to sleep on my own, but I just end up with my mom and dad

Dr. Louis: Well, there's not much I can give you. I can tell you to just keep trying and to talk to mom and dad. They want to help you, just like I do, so talk to them when you climb into their bed or when they pick you up from school

Ryker: Will it start to go away?

Dr. Louis: It should, yes, but again, you need to talk about it

Ryker: Okay

Dr. Louis: Do you promise?

Ryker: I promise

Dr. Louis: Good. I'm going to talk with mom and dad, and I'll see you soon Ryker

Ryker: Okay, thank you, Dr. Louis

Dr. Louis comes out and catches you and Tom up on Ryker

Dr. Louis: Alright, I think I figured it out

You: Is he okay?

Dr. Louis: He's fine, he's just stressed about your brother

You: I knew bringing my family into this was a terrible idea

Dr. Louis: It's not your family

Tom: It's not?

Dr. Louis: No. Yes, your family is a part of his nightmares, but that's not caused by your family

You: Then what is it?

Dr. Louis: I've got a feeling there's more he's not sharing, like something at school

Tom: Like what?

Dr. Louis: Maybe a bully or that he's being excluded. Those can trigger sadness, which can then trigger a fear

You: What can we do?

Dr. Louis: Talk with his teacher, then talk with him. I told him to open up to you guys

You: I hope he does

Dr. Louis: Me too. Bring him back in a month and we'll see how he's doing
