Agent 3's (Sarah's) P.O.V:

For the night that we stayed at the evacuation center, we were given sleeping bags to rest in. The more comfortable things were given to the refugee inklings.

I was incredibly uncomfortable and tried to get some rest. However, I could also hear the other agents, including Mike, turning around constantly. No one was able to get sleep, which is what we needed the most. We were all exhausted.

As for outside the evacuation center, the battle raged on. You could hear the loud booms from the ink weapons going off. Inkling soldiers were out there fighting to protect all these innocent lives.

"I can't sleep.." I thought to myself. "Is anyone else actually awake?"

"Sarah," I heard a voice call out to me. I turned around to find Mike, who was not far from my side, awake in his sleeping bag. "Can you sleep?" He whispered.

I stared at him and smile. In response to his question, I had shook my head no.

"Everything is super uncomfortable.." I muttered tiredly, my smile fading. Mike let out a soft chuckle. "What sucks more is that we need this rest. We're going to be having to fight a lot more than usual tomorrow in order to gain land back."

The thought of us fighting again worried me. It wasn't like a regular Turf War match anymore, it was quite literally a Turf War.

"Do you think we'll go back to our regular lives..?" I asked him. I had changed my position so that I was now hugging my knees while sitting down. Mike threw the cover off of himself and slowly got up to sit down. "I sure hope so. Though in reality it'll change quite a lot too."

"Right. But in a good way..?"

"I guess, there's going to be good and bad changes. Depends how you look at it really."

We stayed silent. I let out a heavy sigh, I couldn't help but feel down.

I just miss going out together on dates. I miss being able to fight for fun in matches, rather than fighting for our home and lives in war. I miss our old lives, even if this battle hasn't been going on for so so long..

Agent 8's (Mike's) P.O.V:

I stared at Sarah. She definitely looked, not upset, but more like down. I'm able to read Sarah's emotions a lot better now, it makes it easier to identify if there's a problem or not.

"Hey, are you okay?" I asked in a soothing and calm voice. Not too loud so that it wouldn't wake up and of the other agents in here with us.

"..."

"Sarah..? You're worrying me.."

"It's nothing Mike, everything's okay."

"Are you sure..?"

"Yes, I'm just tired I suppose.."

I sighed.

The room was in silence besides the breathing of all of us and the rustling of the sleeping bags.

I got up and silently walked over to Sarah's sleeping bag. She stared at me curiously, though you could still see the sadness in her emerald eyes. It made me feel bad seeing her upset. Gently, I caressed her lime tentacle hair. Sarah gave me a small smile back.

My hand ran down her face, and rested on her cheek. My hand cupped her face as my thumb gently massaged her cheek.

'Hey Sarah."

"Yeah..?"

"I love you a lot."

"Heh...I love you a lot too..."

She gave me a soft smile. The butterflies raged on in my stomach. "God, your smile is perfect," I chuckled as I slowly leaned in for a kiss. She did the same and our lips made contact once again.

I don't know about her but it felt like all of my worries were washed away. Almost as if they weren't existent in the first place.

We broke the kiss off, and I got an idea.

"Let's go outside, Sarah."

"W-What?"

I explained to her that we could go outside, watch the night sky and enjoy ourselves a bit.

She agreed.

~A Couple Minutes Later~

Sarah sat next to me on the steps, her right hand resting on top of my left. Her head rested on my shoulder. I looked over at her lovingly.

This was a beautiful night. If you didn't count the war going on around us and the damaged buildings.

"Mike...I was upset because I miss our old life before any of this." Sarah said out of the blue, still snuggling up to me. The inkling's hand tightened on mine. "I miss going on dates with you, spending time with you. I got so used to it and was so happy with it that now that it's taken away from me, it hurts." I looked over at her sympathetically, "So this is what's been bothering you tonight.." Sarah nodded. "I just feel like we don't get enough time to be, you know, a couple. I get that we're in danger and in a war, but still. I miss spending quality time with my octoling..." Her voice sounded like it was trembling as she went on. She wanted to cry.

I wrapped my arm around her, and kissed her cheek softly. "I'm sorry you're feeling this way babe. I know what you mean though. I feel the same way. I miss spending time with my inkling..."

She giggled softly and scooted closer to me. Sarah moved as close to me as she possibly could, before deciding to place herself on my lap. Her head rested on my left shoulder, while the rest of her body rested and stretched over my lap. Her knees were bent, with my right arm tucked under them. I held her like that.

I caressed her hair once again, and the inkling in my arms began to slowly close her eyes. I looked up at all the bright stars in the night sky, which was partly covered by the battle smoke. It was still pretty regardless.

Sarah fell asleep in my arms with a soft smile.

I stared down at her, and my heart began to race.

"I swear Sarah," I whispered to her in her sleep. "No matter what happens, I'll do whatever it takes to make you feel happy. Whatever it takes to see that gorgeous smile of yours."

I'll do whatever it takes to protect you. Even if it costs my life...
