Chapter 25 ~ Down The Hatch

Agent 7's (Jake's) P.O.V:

"WHAT ARE WE WAITING FOR? LET'S GO!"

Isabel's words had made the hesitant soldiers nod along and go through with the fight. However, I was already with her on this. If it's me and her fighting together, then there isn't anything I have to fear.

We all got ready, turning into our squid forms and began preparing to super jump over to the roof on which the Octoshower rested.

With a blast of ink, we flew through the sky temporarily, landing in a splash of ink at a safe distance from the Octoshower. The Octocopers carrying the mechanical showerhead had already jumped awake from the noise of four squids soaring through the sky and promptly began to lift the machine up. They struggled a bit, but we wouldn't allow them to get any farther.

"I won't be able to reach from here! Please give us cover fire!" Isabel called out back to the Splatling, who nodded in understatement. His barrel had already spun furiously, ready to release a barrage of ink pellets. The one inkling with a brush followed closely to us as we sprinted towards the enemy. My blaster had a decent amount of range to hit the Octopers, but since they were starting to lift it higher and higher, the range couldn't keep up. I gritted my teeth.

"Hey! Watch out you two!" The brush called out. Both Isabel and I jerked our heads towards the voice calling out to us and back at the floating machine, its bright red eyes staring back. It was almost like it was attempting to stare into our souls. "Split up and divide!" I called out, motioning with my hand for Isabel and the other soldier to head sepearte ways through the side. "It should distract the Octoshower, and should aim for at least one of us," I thought to myself, glancing back and forth between Isabel and the other soldier, who was now submerged in ink dashing forward.

The splatling gun hanging underneath the Octarian weapon began to spin, picking up velocity rather quickly. Before we knew it, it opened fire. Not on Isabel or the other inkling but on me. Out of desperation, I shot a straight line forward and swam. I could hear the ripples of the ink bullets going through the air and splashing near me. I was only swimming and praying I wouldn't be hit.

I could vaguely hear Isabel calling my name out of worry.

I could vaguely hear another fight occurring not too far from here.

Agent 4's (Isabel's) P.O.V:

I'm not lying when I say I was scared out of my mind seeing Jake being bombarded with hellfire, but I couldn't stop to go help him. If I can take down the Octoshower then it should be fine, right?

The Octocopters, upon seeing the inklings get close enough, panicked and blasted backward twice in an attempt to get away. However, that didn't mean it stopped firing. I was hesitant to proceed. After all, it was still hovering over the roof of the building, but it could still blast away if I got too close. "Would my slosher even reach..?"

My mind only raced more and more hearing all of the ink pellets hit the surrounding area, with the exclamations of the others behind me. Jake had continued to be sprayed down, though we could all hear the Octoshower's overheating noise, and just as soon as we heard it, it had ended. The splatling user had been previously giving us cover fire, periodically distracting the Ocotshower and giving us turf to swim in despite the barrage. The brush user, not having the range to hit such a target, would also be zipping left and right in hopes of opening a window for us to approach it.

We got closer, but failed to see the discreet sniper shot it had charged up, aiming directly at Jake, who was already trying to recover turf for him to recover ink.

"7-!" I called out to him, extending my arm. "Move!"

Almost instinctively, I witnessed as Jake rapidly moved out of the way. A rapid jump to the right.
