Agent 3's (Sarah's) P.O.V:
"I think we should start sprinting if we want to get these two to safety as fast as possible," I mentioned to Mike as we picked up the pace, slightly. "Yeah, you're right. C'mon you two, let's get you to somewhere safe," He signaled with his hand.
My heart had begun to race a little as we began to sprint. I had plenty of stamina left in me, especially with the sudden adrenaline rush from what had happened prior.
It would be too risky to engage in combat right now. We would have to fight while protecting these two inkling civilians. Mike doesn't have a functioning weapon but knowing him, he'd probably fight bare handed if it had to come to that. Plus, if there were more than we thought...there'd be no way I could handle it on my own.
Our boots crunched under all of the rocks and pebbles along the way, our breaths getting heavier as we continued to run. Luckily for Mike and I, it seems as if the two inklings we are taking care of had plenty of stamina as well, so they didn't have to ask for as much brakes. Occasionally, Mike would turn back and ask us if we were okay, often getting nods back in return. My Splattershot Pro rested in my grasp, making a clinking noise with every step I took.
I stared at the engraving, the little heart with our initials on it, and it only fueled my determination to take back the old lives we had. I can't believe how fast it had been taken away from us.
Another loud boom echoed through the barren city, sounding even closer to us as per usual.
"Over here!" Mike called quickly, leading us under what seemed like an old parking garage. I nodded as the other two inklings followed him. I was confused as to why we were hiding before hearing a loud whirring of helicopter blades. Mike kneeled down next to me as we hid under the ceiling floor above us, looking a lot more nervous than before.
Agent 8's (Mike's) P.O.V:
"Damn it...that was close too.." I thought to myself in my head. I couldn't believe that the Octarians were around this area.
"Was that what I think that was?" Sarah whispered. I reluctantly nodded.
"It's an Octarian helicopter, and they're not that far from here.." I muttered, staring up at the sky. "I thought I was going crazy thinking those explosions were getting closer to us."
"I thought I was the only one," Sarah nodded.
I couldn't help but worry. As I focused more on my sense of hearing, I could now tell it wasn't just explosions of ink going off in the distance and helicopters, but gunfire too.
"..We need to get away from here as soon as possible if we don't want to put their lives in danger," I told Sarah. "I don't like how much louder those sounds are getting..."
I got up from kneeling down and extended my hand out for Sarah to take. The other male and female inkling with us stood up as well.
This was immediately followed by another whirring of helicopter blades above us.
The gunfire got louder.
"Do you hear that..?" Sarah asked, the tone in her voice getting a bit more shaky.
We didn't have time to just sit around and wait to see what happens. I knew we had to take action, so I began to light jog out of under the parking garage building, quickly signaling to the rest so that they follow. Sarah and the two other inklings began to follow me.
We tried to run as fast as we could, our boots crunching under the gravel as we tried to maintain a steady breath. There was now a ton more whirring of helicopter blades, engines revving on different vehicles, shooting, yelling and ink splatting. All of these sounds were coming from both the side we were heading and the place behind us. The sounds were getting extremely loud, it had gotten to the point where it had turned overwhelming. Sarah and I began to panic a bit more once we heard a ton of super jumping around us.
Once I looked up, I had noticed that the gunfire was coming from both our allies and enemy Octarians, who were both super jumping as their vehicles dropped off more soldiers to fight.
"Mike! What do we do?!" Sarah exclaimed, quickly dragging the two inklings behind a wall to try and take cover. I followed behind them. "I don't know, I didn't think everyone would be fighting here all of a sudden!"
I took a peek to see the action going on behind us.
Octarians were found around and inside the buildings, as well as fellow inklings, all blasting their weapons at each other with the intent to splat for good. Ink was flying everywhere, the pellets and strings of ink soaring through the battlefield air. Splat bombs were going off, the yelling of inklings/octarians giving orders or crying out in pain. The loud whirring of helicopter blades and engines of certain cars was running, the different specials being used. Ink Jets, Splashdowns, Tenta Missiles, Sting Rays, Bomb Launchers, Ink Storms, Ballers, Bubble Blowers, Booyah Bombs and Ultra Stamps were heard throughout the sounds of turfware. The "spirits" of all the splatted Octarians and Inklings slowly floated upwards to the sky, before ultimately fading away due to the disconnected respawners.
It was complete utter chaos out here.
"Sarah! We can't keep them here! We're going to have to keep moving!" I tried ordering her through the sound of warfare behind us, to which she gave me subtle, yet determined nod. "We got this!
We both got up again and ran through the streets as more inklings soldiers arrived with trucks, shooting their Splattershot Pro's or whatever long range weapon they were using, others swinging and swimming with their brushes and rollers.
"Swim through the ink!" Sarah yelled so that the civilians in danger and I could move faster. Of course our ink color ended up there because of the firing from our side.
"Let's get them to safety!"
