Agent 3's (Sarah's) P.O.V:

Time Skip: 2 Days.

"Get down Mike!" I yelled, throwing myself on the floor and dragging the octoling down with me.

Once again, as we went out to venture the outskirts of the safe area of Inkopolis, the Octarian Army didn't hesitate to fight back. A whole platoon was sent of inkling soldiers to fight alongside Agent 8 and I in the battlegrounds. Right now, as we sprinted through the gunfire, we were being barraged by splat bombs.

"God, there's so many!" Mike exclaimed through all the loud battling going around us. It was still pretty hard to hear him through everything going on. Smoke was going up everywhere around us from the dust being blown around by the splat bombs. It was getting hard to see. Our platoon was following behind us, as we were ordered to push through the Octarian Army's defense line as fast as we could to flank them. As this went on, I prayed that little to no other inklings will lose their life as we pushed forward.

Behind us, a loud explosion and splashing of a swirling purple ink went off behind us. Recognizing the sound, I could identify it as a Booyah Bomb without even looking at it. However, I didn't want to hear the painful yells of soldiers being injured behind us.

"Sarah! We're losing too many inklings behind us! At this rate, we're going to lose everything and everyone behind us!"

"Please Mike! Just bear with me, we can do this!"

All the shooting and splatting go around me as the war raged on made it hard to focus on anything or even hear my own voice. Like I said before, I could hardly hear Mike's voice behind me.

We tried going through the smoke and prayed that we wouldn't be hit by any ink or splat bomb of some sort.

We were losing more and more soldiers as we went forward. The splat noises continued. The blood in my veins was no longer blood, but 100% pure adrenaline. At this point, my body was just trying and begging me to go somewhere safe.

"Sarah, let's go behind here!" Mike yelled, grabbing my wrist and dragging me behind a couple of concrete walls. A few of the soldiers followed behind us and took cover. A couple of them were suffering from small cuts, bruises and injuries caused by either the enemy ink or the flying debris going everywhere.

I didn't know whether or not to continue this operation. We originally started with Mike and I, plus 20 other soldiers to help us. Now we're left with about 5 inkling soldiers. I stared, fear in my eyes as the ringing didn't stop in my ears.

"It'll be okay," Mike said loud enough to hear me, flinching at the loud splat bombs going off. "We can make it."

I wanted to cry, I couldn't handle this.

Agent 8's (Mike's):

I couldn't have Sarah give up right here. We've made it too far ahead to turn back now. I didn't have much hope either for us, but I tried to be positive.

The remaining inkling soldiers collapsed and rested against the wall. Some threw their headgear off and some slammed their weapons to the floor. An inkling cried, hugging his knees. I could barely make out what he was saying, but reading his lips I understood: "I can't believe I just saw my comrades get splatted in front of my own eyes."

"I can't do this anymore. I want to go to my parents. Away from here." The inkling next to me muttered, staring blankly into the floor with tears streaming down their face. I can't imagine how hard it must be for these inkling's seeing their friends dying before them.

I sighed, trying not to break as well. I couldn't believe how much destruction has happened and how many lives have been lost in such a small amount of time. It hasn't even been a month, how did the previous one last 100 years?
