Through It All... (Agent 8 x Agent 3) [FINAL BOOK]

Chapter 14 ~ Aftermath

Agent 3's (Sarah's) P.O.V:

I have never felt so relieved to see my friends once again. If the Octoshower had continued its path of destruction, without a doubt it would have done massive damage to Inkopolis. 

"They're here..." I sobbed happily, holding Mike close to me. The octoling held me tightly back, gently scratching the back of my head lovingly as he sobbed silently as well. 

"You inklings sure are smart and strong," Drake stared in amazement, also relieved that, what he hopes will be, his future home wasn't destroyed. "Congratulations you two.." He smiled to both Sarah and Mike meaningfully, clearly meaning it in a nice way. 

"Thank you Drake," I grinned brightly towards him. "But now is no time to sit down and celebrate, the battle is still going on over there."

Even though Callie, Marrie, Marina, Pearl, Jake and Isabel are all down there, it's best to keep the casualties to a minimum. There were still plenty of Octarian soldiers, and if we got cocky right now, we'd still have a huge chance of losing. 

"Are you rested and ready to go, Mike?" I grinned towards my boyfriend, who stared back at me in wonder. I could never get enough of his crimson red eyes. They always seemed to make me get butterflies. With a grin back, he responded with, "I'm ready." I noticed that Mike's breath were still heavy from the super jumping, but according to himself, he was raring to go. 

"I'll be joining you guys too," Drake had stated, getting ready to super jump back to the battle with us.

The warfare wasn't as bad as it was before, of course there was still fighting and ink bombs going off everywhere, but it was better. There were less soldiers losing their lives as we pushed the Octarian soldiers to retreat and surrender or have them splatted, which is good. It's what we wanted.

"Ah! 3!" Marina said excitedly once the fight was over. "I'm so glad you're okay!' I was held in her arms tightly, and I couldn't help but let out a giggle and held her back. Isabel had quickly joined the hug as well, also saying how happy she was that we were alive and well. 

"I was worried we wouldn't make it in time.." Marie let out a sigh as she looked around to observe the damage caused. "But it still managed to do a lot."

Agent 8's (Mike's) P.O.V:

Jake had saluted me with joy, giving me a quick fist bump. "Are you okay man? You look more tired than usual." I laughed for a moment before saying, "It's a long story."

Everyone was happy to see both Sarah and I, everyone greeting each other and discussing about the recent events. 

"8! You're okay!" Callie ran up to me, and caught me in a hug. Her head rested on my chest as she went on about how worried she was. The whole thing seemed weird to me, since she had never actually done something like this. She had always respected the distance between us, but why is it different now? I looked down at her confused and nodded, before looking over at Sarah and giving a confused look. She gave me one back. I gently got her off me without being too rude.

"Yo! You two got any feedback on that power upped Octoshower there?" Pearl had asked Sarah and I after Callie let go of me. 

"Actually we do, but maybe we can ask our new ally and see what he says," The rest of the agents, besides Sarah, stared at me curiously as to what I meant. 

"H..Hello everyone, my name is Drake," He muttered softly, looking down at the floor out of embarrassment. "I want to help the inklings in the war against the Octarians up here in Inkopolis.."

The Splatoon quickly introduced themselves, and wasted no time in asking questions to Drake.

"The Octarian army had recently upgraded their Octarian weapons such as the Octoshower earlier. They tend to upgrade the amount of damage it does and causes, the mobility and speed of it was also upgraded."

"Hm, that's definitely something to worry about," Marrie commented. "Though now that we know not to underestimate these bulky weapons, we know we need to be more cautious."

"Wait, Drake?" Marina looked over to him. "If you were part of the Octarian army before this, does that mean you possibly know what tactics they're taking?"

Drake looked down and back up again, giving a nod. "I have more or less what paths they're planning on taking."

"That's really helpful," Sarah grinned happily after taking her eyes off me. "Do you know what exactly they're planning right now?"

Drake stared at Sarah for a moment, carefully thinking to himself. "Y..Yeah. They're planning on slowly taking over the turf surrounding the Deca Tower and Inkopolis Square. They're assuming Inkopolis Square is the most heavily guarded at a time like this. With this, they could easily infiltrate you guys from every direction and take Inkopolis for themselves."

I glanced around nervously to the other agents, everyone was either staring at Drake curiously, or thinking to themselves about the information they were just given. 

"Well," I hesitated on sharing the information. "From what I know, Inkopolis Square isn't that heavily guarded right now...Battles are being fought all around us so I doubt there's rein-"

"There is yo," Pearl butted in. "Both Marina and Marrie had both ordered for reinforcements around that area and around the evacuation center, just in case."

"For now, let's try our best to win as much as we can. The least we can do is win this war." Marrie glanced over quickly as another truck began to pull up to us, "Our ride is here."

Everyone began to head to the truck. Some of the agents, Marrie, Callie, Pearl and Marina all sat in the seats inside of the vehicle. Drake, Jake and Isabel headed towards the seats on the back. 

Sarah extended her hand to me with a smile, "C'mon Mike, let's head back."

I nodded back with another smile.

The Splatoon and I drove back to the evacuation center, everyone chatting and getting to know Drake as I sat silently. The sky slowly darkened as time went by, and soon enough, darkness fell over Inkopolis once again.
