I shook my head in disbelief. I laughed. "Are you being serious? That's... not possible."
Leland started to walk away. "See? This is why I said I knew you wouldn't understand!" I could see his unsmiling face proved he was serious. I ran after Leland into the backyard. "Leland, I'm sorry. Really... Could you explain it all to me?" I grasped his arm.
There was that shocking feeling again. I quickly let go. "Leland, why do you feel like that when I touch you?" Leland wrapped his arms around my waist. "It's not me. It's the electricty... Of true love." The shocking feeling was getting stronger. My whole body felt like a lightning bolt touched me. It didn't hurt, it just felt like.... Electricty.
Leland was looking deep into my eyes. We both slowly leaned in for each other's lips, but he shoved me away. "I'm sorry, May. I don't want you to disappear again!" I didn't understand. Disappear? Nobody can do that. It has to be true, though. If I could be reborn again, I'm pretty sure I could just disappear.
"You randomly disappear... I always lose you. We've been together, married, but we've never had kids. We was never meant to be together. You was meant to be with another guy, I haven't met him in this life. But, May... You're will is so strong. You always choose me and... You randomly die. You're always reborn to start over and be with the other guy, still you always end up loving me."
What if my life now... Just ended? I'm falling for Leland and I've felt like I've known him forever. (I guess I have) I can't be with him, though... We're not meant to be.
"Leland, do you love me?"
"Yes. With all of my heart."
"Obviously, I'm not ever going to stop falling for you. Whatever the cost, we're going to find a solution so WE can be together!"
