Everyone in the garden was quiet as we all watched Reece. His eyes were flicking back and forth from me and twins at such a rapid speed I began to feel sick, or maybe my sickness was a result of my growing nerves. Why did I think that bringing the twins wouldn’t cause any drama – Nathan’s a carbon copy of Reece, it would have been obvious to anyone and clearly it was.

‘Mummy?’ said Nathan quietly looking up at me, his eyes big and round.  Nathan didn’t like attention and he always cried when people stared at him for too long, so I picked him up, grabbing Marie’s hand with my other one and began to walk up the steps and into the house.

‘Bianca wait’ shouted Jade running behind me. I stopped in the middle of the huge hallway, its cream walls and with the white marble flooring had the sound of Jade’s heels echoing and bouncing off the high glass roof. I turned around, my face flushed.

‘Jade I need to go’, I pleaded my grip on the twins tightening,

‘Bianca what’s going on?’

‘No, I cant explain’ I said, getting ready to turn around again,

‘Well you need to’

Jade turned around and we saw Reece and Jaden standing there, Jaden looking confused as he looked at Jade for an answer.

‘Explain. Now’ said Reece. I stared at him for a little longer and was about to say something when I felt Marie move at my legs.

‘He’s scary ma’ she said quietly, moving behind my dress. Nathan watching his sister wriggled down from my hip and stood beside her, holding her hand and giving her a little hug. Watching them I realised that I couldn’t hide it anymore – these children were my world and for a long time the only thing of Reece that I had left that weren’t memories, but now he was here; very alive and standing not just in front of me but his children – our children. He had questions and so did I.

‘Fine, but not here and not in front of the kids’ I replied, finding confidence from Nathan who kept looking up at me as he hugged his sister. Although Marie was always the one to look out for Nathan, Nathan would always be there to support Marie when she got scared or nervous, which was very rare.

‘There are rooms upstairs you can use’ suggested Jaden,

‘Yeah and I’ll give the kids to your mum’ said Jade taking a hesitant Marie’s hand. Nathan didn’t follow but instead looked up at me.

‘Mummy’ he said looking at me with worried eyes, one hand clinging onto my dress.

‘I’m fine baby’ I reassured him, ‘go with Marie and Grandmama and make sure they’re okay’. Waiting a little longer he nodded slightly before joining Jade and walking outside. Once they were in the garden and Jade was back, I looked up at Reece who hadn’t taken his eyes off me the whole time.

‘Let’s go’ he said, without taking his eyes off me. With Jaden leading the way I followed after him and up one of the winding stair cases that lead to the upstairs hallway. Down the hallway and past a couple of doors, Jaden opened the last door into what seemed to be a TV room, with a small bar on the other side of the room, the walls cream with emerald green curtains and features. The room was light and airy; natural and fresh, but it was clouded by the growing atmosphere. I sat on one of the cream sofas followed by Jaden and Jade, but Reece didn’t join us. He stood by the window his hand covering his mouth, releasing a big sigh. His beard was thick at the bottom but faded as it reached his hair line; his hair cut low, but not low enough so you couldn’t see the waves in his hair. His lashes, still as thick as I remembered coated his beautiful eyes as he blinked rapidly; his milk chocolate skin with the hint of caramel still seeming as smooth as ever. He had on a white shirt and from the look of it, it looked like it could be designer, he had a pair of beige capris on and what I assumed to be a pair of loafers. Although he looked similar he looked different, so grown and so very very sexy. We all watched as he looked out the window and my only guess was that he was watching the twins My stomach bubbled as I waited in agony at the awkward conversation we were about to have. I didn’t even know where to begin.
