I was sitting in the silent part of the library for around four hours before I started to develop a headache. It was a cold, windy and wet beginning to February and the constant pitter patter of the rain on the windows, which some may find soothing, I found incredibly irritating, making me loose focus on trying to draft my essay. My deadline was in three days and my plan was to draft it in the library then amend the changes and hand it in my 6 o'clock that same day - it was currently 7:45. I chewed on the pen cap (something that I absolutely hate, but under such crucial and stressful circumstances, one is allowed to perform such taboo's) and leaned back in the chair, staring at the current paragraph I was trying to figure out, when my phone vibrated noisily on the study cubical, making a couple of students look up at me. I sent an apology smile and sent a screw to my phone, as I realised it was a Whatsapp message - my status clearly said *STUDYING DO NOT DISTURB*.
Tems ♥: Where r u?
Bubbles*: Same place I've been all day - this book review is harder than I thought
Tems♥: YOU'RE STILL DOING IT??? Bianca, we're meant to be going down to Akeem's uni remember!!
I rolled my eyes and stifled a groan, waiting a while before I replied. How could I forget? Ever since Akeem invited us down for an 'intimate' drink up, this girl has been yap yap yapping non stop about it - what should I wear? Did he invite other girls? Should I sleep in his bed? Don't get me wrong I love Temi even more as I get to know her better, but daaaaammmm does she go on.
Bubbles*: I remember Tems, but I said I weren't goin if my essay weren't done, and it's not
Tems♥: Do as much as you can tonight and then I'll help you finish it off 2morro. Try be done by 8:00, Fresh and Gabriel are coming for us at 8:30-8:45
I sighed loudly and quickly regretted it as I got more disapproving glares from other students and instead shook my head. This girl wanted me to be done in 15 minutes - impossible! Before I even had time to protest, Temi quickly sent me multiple messages, ones I couldn't read straight away as she polluted our chat with reasons I should hurry up. To be honest they all had one thing in common that she knew I wouldn't say no to...
Reece.
I shook my head and put my phone in my bag and out of sight, and went back to my essay, determined to at least progress from where Temi had interrupted me. Staring at the paragraph I decided to leave it until tomorrow and progress further down, managing to draft 3/4 of it before 8:00. It will do for now, besides Temi can help me tomorrow, since she already handed hers in earlier today. I packed my stuff up and left, walking briskly out the library and down the hall towards the Uni bus shelter. As I waited I smiled to myself, I'm glad Temi urged me to come, I havent seen Reece in weeks and just talking to him didnt do much for me.
When I reached our dorm I could already hear the music blasting out as I got out the lift; this girl, you'd think we were going to one rave. Once I entered I saw Temi, dressed in some shorts and tights, with a white vest top a size too small, so that her breasts looked bigger than they already were. Her thick braids were up in a high side ponytail and she had on some deep purple lipstick and a thick line of eyeliner framing her eyes, her nose wrinkled slightly as she smiled at me, her nose stud being switched to a small nose ring gleamed at me.
'Well don't you look nice' I said, opening my room door and flinging my bag and coat on the hooks. Temi smiled and twirled, her tan timbs making soft padding noises on the carpet. Part of me wanted to tell her it was a bit too much effort, since it was only drinks, but the other part told me to shut up and let her do her thing - it's not like I didn't know why she was making so much effort anyways.
