The sun was shining onto my face through the taxi window as it turned the corner. I looked around at the houses and smiled; it was a nice area. Counting in my head, I thanked the cab man and paid him once he had reached number 73, and got out, closing the door silently behind me. It was weird being back here, it brought back so many memories; the good and the bad and for the life of me I wished it never it didn’t. Although I wasn’t born here, London became my home and despite me leaving here for almost 6 years, it still had that familiar aura to it, even now. I opened the black iron gate and rang the doorbell.
‘BIANCAAAAA’ screamed Jade as she flung open the door and flung herself upon me. Laughing I hugged her tightly back, trying my hardest not to cry. She moved back from me and I saw the tears forming in her eyes.
‘C’mon don’t cry’ I said laughing slightly, fanning my own eyes to stop them from spilling over.
‘I know, I know’ said Jade, letting out a shaky breath before laughing slightly, ‘it’s just been, what almost 6 years since I last saw you’
‘I know’. We stared at each other for a little longer before Jade clapped her hands, pushing a strand of hair behind her ear,
‘Come in, you must be cold cause I know this sun is nothing like that Miami heat you been getting’. Laughing I walked into her beautiful house and smiled. Sitting down on her black leather couch, I took in the white black and red livingroom; the huge television that was mounted on the wall opposite me screamed Jaden, along with the playstation and xbox that was placed on the table beneath it, and the white curtains with a black swirl pattern across them complimented the black shaggy carpet; imitating Jades style. Jade into the living room holding two wine glasses and a bottle of Rose, placing them both on the glass coffee table in front before taking a seat next to me. Opening the bottle and pouring us both a glass I picked it up and smiled at the fruity taste of it – I wasn’t a big wine fan, or alcohol fan, so the fact that I found this delicious was perfect.
‘So whats been going on?’
‘What do you mean?’ I asked, smiling,
‘You’ve been gone for so long Bianca and we hardly spoke much’. Putting down my glass I looked at Jade before shrugging,
‘I told you pretty much everything in the email’
‘Mmhm’ she said into her glass as she took another sip,
‘What?’
‘You expect me to believe you after you didn’t even tell me you were pregnant with twins’
‘Jade’ I said warningly, placing my glass down. Jade put up one hand, showing a sign of surrender as she took another sip.
‘You can’t expect me not to wonder’ she said quietly, placing her glass on the coffee table, ‘how are they?’
‘They’re good’ I said smiling, ‘they’re coming when Mum and Phil come over because they haven’t broken up from school yet’
‘I’m so excited to see them’ said Jade clapping her hands slightly, ‘my little flower girl and my little groomsmen’
‘You know you’re Marie’s favourite after you made her that’ I said, making Jade laugh and nod her head, ‘she just keeps going on and on about it’
‘Well she’s gonna freak when she sees her dress and she better have nice hair’
‘Excuse me’ I spluttered laughing,
‘Your child better not have no picky hair. She better take after you, cause I want her hair to be out. Don’t know what genes you and Kadeem gave them, but let me pray they got your hair’.
