Tensions were running high as Ceryscathia prepared for their war against Dominicia.
Claudia's former kingdom used the little diplomacy they had left in their marred system and called for a civilized battle in Lokriveii.
Although, she knew it would be far from civilized, and if they were, two peaceful kingdoms wouldn't have gone to war in the first place.
Everyone had been busy next month with work of their own, Claudia, Marcus, Dean, Hela, Moira and the four advisors would gather every morning to make adjustments to their plans, it had to be perfect, their lives depended on it.
They would march first with their primary troops of nine hundred and following behind them two hours after their departure would be the secondary troops of another nine hundred to take them by surprise.
The primary troop would be led by Marcus, Claudia and Alexei while the secondary troop by Dean and Hela.
Then they would be met with the troops of Wilhestia which were a thousand.
After their planning, everyone would scurry off and would be left to their own devices, Marcus would use his 'aristocratic brain' -as Claudia put it- and made sketches of mass weapons that would be useful against an army their enemies' size.
Hela along with Amala would continuously send letters to Wilhestia to try and get King Remus to come to aid with their forces.
The king would've pulled out of it if it weren't for Claudia who sent a letter reminding him that if Dominicia came after their allies, they wouldn't hesitate to come after Wilhestia.
Claudia and Dean would spent most of their time together sparring and training to the point where Marcus had gotten too jealous and told Moira or Hela to teach her, and sometimes he would take it to himself to spar with her.
This routine had been the flow for and entire month, and as every day passed by, so did the days of war come forward.
Breaking the unwritten rules, Claudia and Marcus spent a lot more time together, the fear of losing each other ripped through their hearts as one thought of every touch and kiss to be their last.
It wasn't just fighting that was on Claudia's mind, she didn't throw away the possibility of them dying, as blasphemous as that may be, she started preparing for the worst.
Nobody batted an eye when Claudia had invited Lila to their palace two weeks prior to them leaving for Lokriveii.
Lila was treated like an actual princess and everybody had come to the conclusion that Claudia may have secretly adopted the little girl or just wanted to give an orphan the time of their life.
And so here they were, a week away from the war and a day before they left, in the snow covered lands right next to the Castle, where Claudia practiced her archery while watching Lila giggle and run around while Marcus tried to catch the little fox.
Marcus and Claudia decided that they would spent the last day together as if there was nothing wrong, nothing to come and kill them.
"Can I play?" Lila squealy voice asked politely as she eyed the bow and arrow, Claudia found her appearance funny with her big scarf almost covering her entire face.
Claudia smiled kneeling down carefully as not fall on her face with the thick snow, caressing Lila's face.
"Well, this is a little big for you but don't worry, after Marcus and I come back from visiting Wilhestia, I'll get you a smaller one and teach you."
Claudia locked eyes with Marcus as he looked at her sympathetically, Lila was only six years but looked even younger, she wouldn't understand the concept of war.
