Chapter 22

"Deacon informed me that you will not be leaving for work today." Lenon spoke, guarding the front door. I angrily grabbed my bag and made my way to Lenon, letting the sound of my heels echo through the house.

"Lenon, I will be going to work today and you will move out of the way." I gave him my best glare. He shook his head. " Cornell has not yet signed your safety contract, I can't let you cross his territory." He countered me.

I turned and threw my bag on the couch, pulling my phone out of my pocket, quickly dialing Deacon I paced the floor feeling Lenons eyes on me.

"Ell, are you okay?" His deep voice sent a shiver down my spine. I was never going to get used to him. I palmed my face feeling like an idiot for blushing.

"Yeah, I'm fine." My voice came out unsteady.

"Okay, what's going on?" He asked. I could hear the rustle of papers in the background, he was always so busy with pack things and his company.

"Well, I was getting ready for work when..." I was immediately cut off by him.

"You will not be crossing Cornells territory today. He needs to send his signature." Deacons voice raised slightly. I closed my eyes and pinched the bridge of my nose, feeling at a loss.

"I'm sorry little one. I will send a follow up email today." his seductive empathetic tone made my heart skip a beat.

"Okay, I guess I can call in and see if I can work from home today." I found myself complying to Deacon with ease. There wasn't anything in me that wanted to fight him.

"Good girl." He whispered. I was red with excitement, quickly turning away from Lenon and making my way to the patio.

"Deacon." I warned, still embarrassed that Lenon could of easily overheard the lust in Deacons voice. He let out a deep chuckle.

"Why don't you come and do your work here, with me, in my office." His voice wasn't any less lust filled. This time I chuckled.

"I have a feeling if I did that, we wouldn't be getting any work done." I responded just as seductive. I could hear the sound of his chair moving.

"I can show you a few things you'd be doing as luna. And you could meet some people you'll be working closely with." I thought about his offer and remembered that this relationship was going to be a lot of compromise. If I gave his way a try, then he'd have to give mine a try as well.

"Okay, does this mean I can have my car back?" I retorted.

"Yes my love, you can have your car back." I could almost hear the smile on his face. I didn't want to take all the credit, but it seemed like Deacon was finally coming out of his shell and truly being himself, at least around me.

I informed Lenon about the change in plans, and messaged Audenzia an excuse for missing coffee today. A Doctors appointment would have to suffice. I felt horrible for lying to her, if it weren't for her I wouldn't even have this job.

I made Lenon come with me to Deacons building, it was my first time here and I didn't want to admit it, but I was nervous. "Ell, the sound of your heart is drowning out the radio." He glanced over to me from the passenger seat.

"Im sorry, I'm just a little nervous. Im about the meet a ton of werewolves." I ranted before coming to an open spot in the large lot. Lenon laughed.

"Ell, not everyone that works for Deacon is a Lycan. It's a normal construction company, that just happens to be owned by a Lycan." He comforted. I grabbed my laptop bag and purse, quickly checking my reflection in the mirror.
