18: Ancient Mural, New Ideas

Happy New Year everyone! Wow this book is a year old now.

'The Darkest Day was a dark time in Galar's history. Pokemon began to rampage, resulting in a mass genocide. Luckily for our nation, two heroes put an end to this travesty. The two were eventually crowned, and thus began our prosperity.'

"Is this the place?" Goh turned to Leon.

"Of course it is." Leon hummed.

"Are you sure we aren't lost?" Goh huffed.

"Positive." Leon sweatdropped. "At least I think."

"Bun bun." Raboot sighed, which Goh deciphered to mean 'Whatever you say'.

Currently, master and apprentice were standing in front of Stow-on-Side, home to many desert-loving Pokemon, the Galar Canyons, and the home of the 4th Gym-Leaders Allister and Bea. Bea operates the Gym in the day, while Alisster operates the Gym at night.

Stow-on-Side was also home to a specific mural. And it was the same mural that Leon's dear Sonia had asked the two to investigate. "I still don't know why she wants us to check this out."

"It concerns the legend of the Sword and Shield, as well as the surge of Dynamax energy. Did you read the brief at all, Leon?" Goh sweatdropped.

Leon didn't answer, instead walking up to the place where the mural was. "Legend eh?" Leon touched the surface of the hard mural. "I don't-"

"Stop right there!" Yelled a man, interrupting Leon's words. The man was dressed in a black tuxedo and sketchy shades.

"And you are?" Leon asked.

"I'm here to stop you!" He answered, pulling out two Pokeballs. He tossed them onto the field, revealing a Garbodor and Rillaboom. To Leon and Goh's shock, the man's Dynamax Band began to glow a menacing red. The sky above them also began to take on a red hue.

And just then, Leon's phone rang. 'Leon! There's a Dynamax Hydreigon on the loose! It's close to your area, so you have to stop it!' The voice was from his beloved Sonia.

Leon's eyes darted between his phone and the G-Max Garbodor and G-Max Rillaboom in front of him, before his protege told him, "Go for it. I can handle things here."

"Are you sure?"

"Positive. After all, I am your apprentice." Goh shrugged, readying up a Love Ball. Leon nodded, releasing Charizard, and flying off to wherever the Hydreigon was.

With that, Goh turned to the man, Dynamax Band glowing and eye's flaring. "You want a battle, huh? I can't believe Rose-Sacho actually planned this." Goh released a G-Max Shiny Alcremie and Raboot began to Dynamax as well. The man gasped in shock.

"How did you-"

"The princess told me. You know, Princess Sophie Ketchum?" Goh huffed. "I can't believe she's actually right."

The man growled, "Well now that you know, it'll be more than your Pokemon who'll be silenced."

"I don't think so! Decorate and Max Flare!" Alcremie and Raboot both began to glow a light pink, before Raboot sent a large, wisping flame at Rillaboom, which almost immediately knocked it out.

"G-Max Malodor!"

"Max Guard!"

"G-Max Drum Solo!"

"Dragon Claw once more!" Charizard, which was un-Gigantamaxed, flew at the Hydreigon, slashing it ferociously with its claws. Hydreigon reeled in pain, releasing three giant Hyper Beams that decimated half the Wild Area's trees.
