April 20, 1997
It did feel like it. It did feel like as if time flew by fast like the wind. The last 3 months went by quicker than anyone could have imagined. To her surprise, she had gained weight- though it didn't show at all.
Harry and Ron grew...taller than they've ever been. Hermione was the same old book worm...her hair longer and more curlier than it had been.
Nott? He was barely around. She stopped seeing him last month. When she asked the Professors, they just answered with a simple response such as 'he's dealing with family matter'. She didn't believe it.
Malfoy was around. But it was rare. He mentioned that he had to help Snape with something but never said what. Her suspicions grew more and more each time, he left her. Today, he promised that he would spend his whole day with her. As it was a Friday.
She had suggested going to the Three Broomsticks again but he said he'd rather go and jump off the stairs than do that. So she asked if he was up for a library visit. He had asked why, since that's where they usually were. But she had suggested a rather mad idea.
The Restricted Section.
Malfoy's expression wasn't the best to that idea but he agreed with a small smile on his face. And that's exactly what they did. At 1am in the morning of April 20, Malfoy and her, headed to the Restricted Section of the library underneath Harry's invisibility cloak that was given to him by Dumbledore in his first year.
She was bent over with Malfoy hovered on top of her as they walked slowly through the corridor and into the library. She glanced both ways before walking straight for the door that was locked.
Malfoy hissed when his foot hit the table's leg. "Would you hurry it up, Brooks?" She just giggled softly.
She whispered "Alohamora" with her wand pointed towards the door's lock and it clicked open with urge. She pushed open the door and pulled the cloak
off of the two of them. "This is exciting isn't it? I've only been here once...but for a brief second."Malfoy nodded his head up with a nervous glance. "Let's explore." With that she left Malfoy's side and went on about the section. Malfoy stood there gazing at her back while she hopped off. He frowned and bit his lip.
"I've got to find that book before she does." He mumbled to himself and made a run for it.
Her blood was pumping with excitement. This was the very first time- in a long time- she ever did something outrageous. Something that's forbidden to do so without permission. Especially with someone like Malfoy.
She brushed her hands over a bunch of books that caught her eye but never picked one up. Malfoy was heard fumbling someone along the rows of books but she couldn't see him. Her eyes twinkled thinking Malfoy had liked this idea.
"Malfoy...how many books d'you reckon are in here? Hundreds? Thousands?" She whispered though loud enough for him to hear. She heard him mumble and then walk off somewhere. Shrugging, her feet started moving rather on their own.
Suddenly, her feet came to a halt and her eyes fell upon a dark book. It looked recent made but dusty as if no one has picked it up. It was self explanatory since it was in the Restricted Section.
Without, wanting, her hands grabbed onto the book and she pulled it off the shelf. Her eyes widened a bit to see a big green skull with a snake slithering out of its mouth. The title of the book read History of the Dark Mark. She wet her lips and carefully opened the book, glancing both ways.
She blew a small wind across the page and started reading through the book. It quite interesting though it was a dangerous piece.
"Hey, Brooks. Do you happen to know anything called a Laundry Basket?" Malfoy's voice suddenly was closer than before. She was startled and she looked up and hid the book behind her back. Malfoy appeared in front of her.
She forced a smile and said "It's what we use to carry around our laundry. Instead of carrying around a bunch of clothes in our arms." She nodded. Malfoy eyed her suspiciously then chuckled and walked off.
Heaving a sigh in relief, she opened the book again and this time she found a book mark. A book mark held in the centre of the book where the chapter read: Why the Dark Mark burns?
Her eyes furrowed. She pulled out the bookmark and examined it with her wide eyes. The bookmark was black and had a silver snake with dark pine green writing at the bottom. It was initials. D.M.
There was only one Slytherin she could think of that had the initials: D.M.
She grabbed the bookmark and stuffed it into her loose joggers and closed the book shut, placing it back onto the shelf. Just in time Malfoy came around the corner and held her shoulders. "It seems that this was more of a individual hang out than a duo. Wanna leave now? We could go to our usual spot." He whispered, brushing his lips against her cheeks.
She chuckled and pushed him slightly away. "I'm tired. Let's head back to our common room." Malfoy pouted but agreed anyways.
"I'll drop you off"
"No! I mean no...it's okay. I just want to go for a stroll after. Let me drop you off. It's easier for me anyways." She nervously laughed. He laughed along slightly alarmed. The two went under the cloak and headed for the dungeons.
When they had reached the dungeons, carefully, Malfoy grabbed her chin and kissed her passionately. He then suddenly hugged her and held tight with his head on top of hers.
Malfoy bid goodbye and opened the portrait hole and turned back looking into the now empty corridors as he couldn't see anything.
She stayed under the cloak and just as Malfoy was about to close the portrait, she slipped inside of the Slytherin's Common Room.
Now she just needed to try her best, to confirm what's been bothering her for a while now.
