October 30, 1996

She chewed on her mint- no, she crushed the mint. The last 2 days she's been nothing but moody. Her emotions were all over the place. At one point Ron snapped and asked if she was being bipolar.

She thought that too.

The owlery was quiet. At this hour the owls were usually asleep or delivering mail. She found this one of the quietest yet loudest places in the whole castle. She liked that. Like other things.

Even after raging on her diary, her mind was still stuck on it. After she wrote her entry, she threw it into the fire place.

She watched the leather slowly start to burn and she left. But when she returned 30 minutes later- regretting what she did..

The diary was gone. She sulked and thought the diary might have burned quickly. She lost another piece of Sirius.

It was times like this she felt like she was starting to lose everything. She's been distancing herself from her friends, seeing them only during classes or during feasts.

The rest of the time she would sit in the owlery or in the library- doing nothing. She had nothing to do. She sat there and just thought about....everything.

At one point she even thought she forgot how to speak. It's how much she's been keeping to herself. Reason? She doesn't know. But she knew it was since that argument.

She's seen him. Around. But only once in the last two days. It was as if he's gone ghost. She tried her hardest to figure out why he got so angry- if she had done something- but nothing. Nothing at all.

She didn't do anything. But if you think about it, Malfoy is the one to get mad at anything. I mean one of the reasons he hates Harry is because Harry gets better grades than him.

He was raised like that. As a spoiled brat.

Malfoy was raised under the wrong people. She hasn't met Malfoy's mother. But the way he acts, it's clear. You just can't befriend Malfoy.

You had to be a Pure Blood and a Slytherin. I've heard many things about him, bullying the 2nd years for their blood status. He would go to any extent to make someone feel like absolute shit. It's bizarre.

She heaved a sigh. An owl landed by her and she smiled softly at the familiar owl. "Hey Hedwig" she whispered, rubbing under Hedwig's beak. "Where'd you come from?"

Hedwig tilted her head. She trailed her eyes to Hedwig's leg. It was a small package. "Would you like me to give it to Harry?" She asked, sitting up.

Hedwig chirped. She furrowed her eyebrows. She untied the package from Hedwig's and looked at who it was addressed to.

She was surprised to see that it was for her. Hedwig climbed onto her and nuzzled her neck into Rye. "Thanks, Hedwig."

Hedwig flew back into her box. She looked back down at the package. What happened to Prince?

Prince was her owl. He looked just like Hedwig but his feathers were a shade of light blue. She opened the package and narrowed her eyebrows. There was a note.

Rye,

It's Remus. What you said- about Draco. I need to make sure that you are absolutely sure. We cannot go back and change anything after the deed is done.

I need you to respond back as soon as you get this. Tell me when you think it's going to happen. Because I think we should all start planning now.

Tonks says hello. She's been asking all about you. Come over for the winter holidays, okay? I'm here for you. Be safe, kiddo.

Tell me when.

PS. Prince is just fine. He got a small scratch on his leg. He should be fine soon and I'll send him.

Love, R.J Lupin

She frowned. She was so angry when she sent out that letter and now she doesn't know what to do. But she was beyond angry.

She got up and walked over to the paper stack and grabbed one. She placed it on the table and picked up a quill and dipped it into the ink.

To R.J Lupin

I mean what I said. I know we can't go back. I'm sure. Let's get on with it. I'm not sure but I believe it's going to near the end of the year. Possibly in May or June. I'll let you know if anything changes.

Tell Tonks, I said hello back. I miss her. I'll definitely come over for winter holidays. It's been a while since I came over. Thanks Remus. I really appreciate that.

I'll let you know. If anything happens, I'm on patrol here. You too! Be safe. I'll talk to you soon.

PS. Thanks for telling me that. I got worried. Send Prince back when he's healed.

Sincerely, R.D Brooks

She called for Hedwig and handed the letter to her. Hedwig flew off. She picked up the the package and unwrapped it. In the box, it was a bracelet with charms.

The charms wrote the initials: R.D.B and S.B

It's from Sirius, he gave it to me that day - Remus

She slapped her forehead and whimpered. She gently slid it onto her right hand and sobbed. It was his birthday in 4 days.

How could she have been so stupid? She couldn't spend enough time with him. And just that thought broke her. She slid down the wall and cried on her knees.

She didn't know if she should be happy that a part of Sirius is still with her or if she should be sad that he actually isn't with her.

"Why? Why couldn't you have just stayed back? Just this once. You sacrificed yourself. You....knew. You knew you were going to die that day. And you..still came. Why?" She gritted out, tears running.

She punched the ground with her fist multiple times before it started bleeding. Her knuckles. It was ripped and bruised, blood dripping. "You knew and you still fucking left me" she yelled.

"You still left me" she whispered, covering her face with her hands. Smearing some blood onto her cheeks. She gripped onto the bracelet and closed her eyes. She saw her and Sirius, happy. Dancing, singing.

The clock rang around the whole castle. It was midnight. She smiled softly and looking at the bracelet, she said...

"Happy Hallowe'en, Dad"
