January 4, 1997
After Christmas, the spirit has left all of them. Arthur and Molly struggled and spent their time trying to find a new home. The kids tried to find the good in things but found it hard.
New Years was spent with gloomy faces. Fred made jokes here and there but no one could do anything more than break a small small or chuckle.
It was a depressing holiday.
The ride back to Hogwarts is so far not so bad. Ron didn't say much. Hermione glanced worriedly at him, time to time. Harry and her made small talk until Ginny came running into their compartment.
Their heads snapped to her. "Ginny, what's wrong? Are you okay" Ron asked, getting up. Ginny huffed and waved him down- telling him to sit. Ginny took a seat next to Hermione and panted.
"All the girls are going crazy over there" Ginny started. Ron raised an eyebrow. Harry turned to Ginny in amusement. Hermione leaned in. "The new guy sure is something- sorry Harry. But he is very attractive" Ginny grinned.
They all glanced at each other in shock. "He's here already?" Harry scorched. She chuckled.
"That bloody git is already getting so much attention. Doesn't seem like the Malfoy type to me" Ron proudly said. Hermione slapped his shoulder.
"What's his name" she asked. Ginny shrugged. "I'm going to go check the commotion" she said, when squeals got louder. Ginny quickly grabbed her arm.
"You probably want to wait. The girls are drooling. It's disgusting yet funny" Ginny laughed. She leaned back into her chair and sighed. "Wonder what house he's going to be in".
"Let's see"
-
They arrived at Hogwarts and stepped into the Great Hall, finding their seats at their tables. Dumbledore sat silently at the front of the hall with the rest of the teachers. Chatters and squeals were going around the Hall.
"Please take a seat, everyone. We will begin" Dumble chimed. He got up from his seat and stood where he usually did, when speaking to the students. "Today, we have a new student. I'm sure many of you know that by now".
Once again a bunch of whispers erupted. "His name is Christian Scamander" Dumbledore clapped. Ginny gasped.
"As in the Scamander. They're only the most wealthiest family ever"
She watched Ginny and turned her head to the male that was walking towards Dumbledore in the front. The male was tall. Shoulders broad. Skinny but muscular. Gorgeous honey brown eyes. Plump lips. Hair long enough to be put in a tiny bun. His hands were long and slender. His outfit screamed wealthy. The male twirled the wand in his hand and sat down on the chair at front.
Ginny wasn't lying when she said, this man was attractive. He was beautiful. Perfectly constructed.
McGonagall placed the sorting hat on his head and it thought. Every prayed for him to be placed in any but Slytherin. She did too. But to their luck-
"SLYTHERIN" the sorting hat yelled. Everyone groaned and whined. He walked over to the table and sat near the end. Immediately engulfed by all the Slytherins- including guys.
"So much for a good guy" Ron sighed. Ginny pouted and Harry pinched her side. Hermione and Rye sighed.
The lunch was splendid and she immediately got up wanting to go to sleep right away. She walked out of the Great Hall laughing when Professor McGonagall called. She told them to go a head and walked to McGonagall who stood next to the new lad.
"Professor" she asked. McGonagall smiled and motioned towards the guy.
"Rye, I would highly appreciate if you can show Mr.Scamander around Hogwarts. 20 points will be rewarded" McGonagall stated.
She bit her lip and wondered. Why didn't someone from Slytherin show him around. Thinking about the reward, she agreed. McGonagall patted her back and walked off. She awkwardly stood in front of the tall man in front. She was at his chest. Her neck hurt looking at him.
"Alright, Mr.Scamander, we'll get to it" she mumbled and started walking. He followed slowly behind- glancing and gaping at the paintings and artworks. "That was the Great Hall we were just in. It's where we have all our eatings. We can also hang out there when it's free period". He nodded.
"You don't talk much, do you?" He suddenly asked. She turned to him with a startled expression. "You seriously don't think, I know nothing about Hogwarts" Christian said, looking down at her.
She bit her lip. "I- well. Which school did you go to?"
"Ilvermorny"
"Ah so you're an American folk" she giggled. He looked down at her and grinned. "Sorry.
"I was born here but raised there. Don't worry you could laugh" He chuckled. "I'm Christian Walter Scamander" he raised his hand.
She smiled up at him. "I'm Ryera Diane Brooks" shaking his hand. He quirked an eyebrow and smiled, ear to ear. "It's a pleasure meeting you Christian"
"Pleasure is all mine, Diane" Christian bowed down and kissed the top of her fingers. She flinched. "So where to new bestie" he laughed in his sweet American accent. She laughed covering her face.
He smiled. "Since you know all about Hogwarts, where to Walter" she challenged- playfully. He smirked.
"Very well. Let's go to the place I've always wanted to go to" Christian started walking, hands in his pockets. She raised an eyebrow at him. He looked at her. "The Room of Requirement".
Her breath hitched.
-
It was crowded. The Room of Requirement was filled with random objects and furniture. It was almost like a storage. "I sure wasn't expecting it to be like this. Not at all" Christian said, pushing a chair aside. She chuckled.
"It's been a while since I last came here" she said. Christian continued to search the room. She was confused. What was he searching for? "Is there something you're looking for?"
He stopped and looked over at her. "You wouldn't believe me if I told you" he heaved a big sigh, glancing at her neck and rubbed his jaw. "Let's go. It smells like dog shit here". She laughed and walked out with him.
They wandered the halls and finally came to a stop at Gryffindor's portrait hole. Christian gazed at her. "You're quite the pretty one" he mumbled. But she heard and she flushed. "Mind my curiosity but where did you get this necklace" he asked, stepping closer.
She picked up the pendant that was a ring. "Ah this. Someone I was close with gave it to me. Someone I know". He nodded staring at the barely visible engraving on the snakes scales. "Thanks for today" she smiled.
Christian quirked an eyebrow. "You made it fun. You're fun to be around. I hope to see you soon, Ryera Diane Brooks" he joked, and grabbed her hand. She froze. He kissed her hand and smiled.
Christian walked away laughing at her face- with his hands in his pockets.
"See you soon, as well, Christian Walter Scamander"
