"Why did you lie?"

He stared at the far ground, leaning heavily against the tower railings. She kept looking everywhere except him. He took notice of that. "I didn't want to."

"Yes you did. You kept it from me, all along. How long were you planning on hiding it?" Her face showed anger and betrayal. Just standing here made her fists curl. Her heart was pumping with fear.

"What did you want me to say?"

She scoffed and shook her head. "Anything. Anything at all. You could have just said you were a-". Malfoy turned to her with a swift move and she flinched, cutting herself off.

Malfoy bit his lip and stepped further away from her. He looked away from her, trying his hardest to push away the liquid forming in his eyes. His lips quivered. "Look where it lead us now. At least I kept it to myself for a while and felt cared for....even if it wasn't the longest period of time."

The wind in the air was humid and quiet. She felt like running but she kept her posture, not wanting to give in. She couldn't find words to respond to what he said. He was right. If he did tell her before, they wouldn't have gotten close and the...thing they had would've ended.

It didn't matter anymore. She was on her own now. More independent than ever. Time was precious and she didn't want to waste it on him. Even if her heart desired to do so.

The door behind them clicked and she turned on her heel. Nott must've turned the door lock open. "I'm sorry, Malfoy." She hesitated for a moment and turned to look at him. He was already looking back.

Malfoy's expression was hard to read but she could make out his shiny cheeks in the moonlight. Her heart stung. She tightened her eyes and gulped. "But I reckon the thing we had.....is over. Goodbye."

Though there was nothing there....she felt the last string being ripped off. The one that once connected them. The tears finally came running down her face as she turned her back and swung open the door to be met with Nott. She didn't spare a glance and continued to run down the stairs.

The air as she ran, felt amazing on her wet face. Her hair flowed in the air as her foot took her where she'd never thought she'd go to. Moaning Myrtle's bathroom. The one she had first gotten her conflict with Malfoy. The one where she caught him crying.

If she'd have known then what she would be getting herself into. She wouldn't have come this far. To the point where she urges herself not to go running back into his arms. She slammed the doors shut and sunk herself onto the cold wet tiles of the Prefect's bathroom.

She sat there in her thoughts, quietly sobbing. Why was it so hard for her to not be reminded of the things she missed most. She felt drowsy from the alcohol. Her headache from crying wasn't helping either.

It was at this time when she actually wanted someone to cry on. A shoulder. She glanced around the bathroom looking for any sign of Myrtle but there was no one there except for her.

Her hair fell upon her face and stuck onto her skin. She felt her eyes get heavy and hooded. The silent dripping sound of the broken faucet was calming. She closed her eyes and wanted nothing but silence. Her cries were more muffled even for her.

Soon after...her eyes closed in sorrow.

June 3, 1997

Another month passed and everything was as if, nothing had happened. At least to her. She smiled up at him and kissed his cheek. "You scared for the exams?"

He shook his head and grinned softly. "We've still got 2 weeks. I honestly can't believe I've been here for 5 months. Can you believe it? We're in the last month of school and it feels like yesterday."

"I feel the same way, Chris. Everything feels like yesterday. Even spending time with.....my friends." She quickly added. He scoffed.

Christian turned to her, mid walk and threw his arm over her shoulder. They continued to walk. "I know what you mean, Rye. But you know it was for the best."

"You know I still can't believe you knew and you still didn't tell me. You even went to the Room of Requirement looking for that cabinet. You knew everything all along and didn't spill one word about it."

He smirked and looked ahead. Her head was squished into his broad chest. She felt like she knew the reason why, but was still curious to ask. "You didn't believe your friends....what makes you think you would've believed anything I said and I was merely a stranger."

She knew it.  Christian was right. Blinded by Malfoy, she wouldn't have believed Christian even if her mind said to do so.

"Let's move on. I don't want to give it more attention than I already have."

Christian frowned slightly and nodded. "You wanna head to the library. Harry and the others are there." When she didn't reply, he took her hand and looked down at her face. "What's wrong?"

The thing was she didn't know how to answer that. Cause she, herself didn't know what was wrong. She can hear Christian but she couldn't answer him. The feeling was hard to explain. "I just thought of the exams. Where did you want to go?"

He eyed her carefully and tightened his grip on her hand. "You can talk to me. You know that." She nodded and smiled up at him. "Let's go to the Library."

While walking to the library, she saw Malfoy, Snape and Nott. It seemed that Nott had finally come back to school after another long break. But this time she knew it wasn't because of family reasons. But because of that foul mark on his forearm.

Snape looked up with a nasty expression and grinned. "Where are you off to, Miss.Brooks?" She halted and looked up at him. The other two seemed to have taken attention to her standing there.

"I'm going to the library, Professor."

Christian placed a hand on her shoulder but Snape looked at him confused. "Don't you...have class?" She frowned. Why was she being questioned like an idiot when she had free period but Malfoy and Nott weren't when they had Transfiguration.

"I have a free period."

Snape sneered. "Very well...you may leave." She turned on her heels with Christian but Snape called again. "Not you, Miss.Brooks. Christian, you may leave." Her eyebrows furrowed and she frowned.

Christian looked at her then Snape. "But Professor-,"

"You...may..leave."

Christian gulped and gave her a sad look before heading towards the library. She stood there like a fool and waited for her next instructions.

She watched as Snape was whispering inaudible words to Malfoy and Nott. Nott then walked away . Snape then walked to her and raised his chin. Malfoy stood behind him, with a cold expression, his hands in his pockets.

"Miss.Brooks. I want you to do some work for me." Snape started. She didn't say anything but her palms were sweating. "With....Mr.Malfoy."
