November 3, 1996 - early morning
She breathed out softly. Her eyes closed, her head somewhere in her dream. Her surrounding was unknown. She was asleep.
"Why do you have to be like this, Brooks?" A cold eerie voice said. "You drive me so crazy. So fucking crazy. You're so perfectly irresistible, it angers me. I hate how you behave, hate how you act, hate how you look. God. I've met so many girls, but you're just so....different. And I hate that it's got to be you. And I'm so fucking sorry" Malfoy bit his lips.
Tears filling his eyes as he tried to press them away. He looked at the ring on his hand and glanced at her. "You gave me a second chance and I couldn't even fulfill it. I'm so fucking pathetic" he scoffed, taking the ring off.
He fiddled with the ring and picked up her hand. "I'm sure the next three months would have been great, Brooks. But I have to do this. It's what's best" Malfoy whispered.
He slipped the ring onto her finger as a tear fell from his eye. "I'm sorry, princess" he mumbled and turned to the tall, animal like man.
Malfoy wiped the tear harshly and looked up the man. The man reached his hand out with a nasty grin. "This stays between us, got it?" Malfoy warns, with fright. The man sneered.
Malfoy dug into his pocket and shoved a bag into the mans hand. "I don't owe you anything anymore Fenrir. Don't go near her and don't mention this to anyone".
Fenrir Greyback scoffed. "Your secret is safe with me, Master Malfoy" he said jokingly.
"Let's go" Malfoy said. He looked back at her and sighed. She had no idea what had just happened. She was in deep slumber to even know. Malfoy hated doing this. He didn't want to. But he had no choice.
"She's quite the girl. She would make a tasty mid night snack- meal if I have to say" Greyback licked his lips. Malfoy clenched his fists. He knew he couldn't do anything. He was disgusted by Greayback's words.
"Who knows? Maybe, I could" Greyback sighed. Malfoy stayed silent. After all, it was all he could do.
-
Her eyes flickered opened and she stretched. "God it's freezing" she shivered. She pulled on her robe and blew on her cold hand.
She rubbed her eyes and hissed. "What the" she started and looked at her hand. Her eyes narrowed. She found a ring on left hands ring finger. She didn't recognize this ring. Though it felt familiar.
It had a snake with green eyes. It was obviously a Slytherin's. But who gave it to her?
She held onto her head tightly. It was pounding. Hurting like crazy. She slowly got up and patted her tree two times. Making her way back into the castle. The grass was covered in light snow. It was beautiful.
She yelled the password and stepped inside the portrait hole. Harry was sitting on the couch by the fire place, reading the potions book like normal. He looked up and his smile fell as soon as his eye caught hers. He huffed and shut his book. Walking up the spiral stairs.
She blinked and followed shortly after. She turned her way into the girls dorm and was met with Ginny, Hermione, and Parvati.
Hermione looked up at her and gave her an awkward forced smile. Ginny waved softly and Parvati just smiled. She looked away walking into the lavatory. She shut the door and looked in the mirror.
She felt so awful. Her own friends looked at her like an outsider. She whimpered. "This is what I went up for. It's what I deserve".
She looked her hands with cold water and splashed it onto her face. The water splattered all over the counter. She leaned onto the counter and huffed. She grabbed her brush and started brushing.
While brushing, she looked down at her finger. The ring sure was a lot bigger. It had to be Malfoy. She spit out the paste and rinsed her mouth.
Wiping the water off her mouth with her wrist, she walked out to the girls now gone. The dorm was now empty. She changed into new robes and slid into her skirt. She took the ring off and waved her wand. A necklace floated in the air and she slipped the ring onto it.
Making the ring into a pendant, she wore it around her neck. As she walked down the spiral staircase, she spotted Ron, going back up.
He raised his hand with a smile before dropping it. For a second she thought. She averted eyes and bit her lip. She continued her way back down.
When she reached the last step. She felt a bunch of eyes, piercing into her. She glanced up and saw every Gryffindor staring at her. Word must've spread.
She looked at Harry and Hermione by the fire place. Harry peered at the new accessory that was around her neck. He scowled. Hermione patted his back and shook her head at Rye.
She felt like crawling back into her hole. She rushed out of the portrait hole. The fat lady called after her but she couldn't hear anything. Tears were flooding her eyes.
She ran.
As far as her feet can take her. Her blurry eyes didn't help at all. She didn't realize she bumped into Theodore. He sneered and glared at her back. But his shoulders dropped as he saw her face.
She ran and ran. Until she reached her tree. She huffed and let all the tears run. She was exhausted. Only a matter of time, she loses her self. She lost her friends but she doesn't want to give up. Not yet.
"Can't apologize, can you, Brooks?" A calm voice surprised her. She turned her head to the voice and was startled to see Nott.
"What do you want?" She mumbled, wiping her tears. Not wanting to show him. Though he had already saw her. Reason why he was there
Nott smirked softly. "You're crying" he didn't look at her but at the lake. He gazed at it. "Why is it you're always crying?"
"I'm...not..crying" she said after every sniff. Her nose felt stuffed. She wiped it on her sleeve. Nott made a disgusted face. He reached into his pocket and pulled out a napkin. She stared at it.
The first time she trusted a Slytherin, he drugged her, erased her memory and stole her diary. When she didn't take it, Nott turned around and yanked at her hand.
Stuffing it into her hand. A electric shock went through her hand and down her spine. Nott's hands were warm and soft. She didn't even know what she was doing when she raised his hand and placed it on her cheek.
She nuzzled her cheek into his hand and he furrowed her eyebrows. "What are you doing" Nott asked, with a confused frown.
"I'm cold" she murmured. Nott's expression softened and he held his hand up against her cheek as she dropped her hands. She relaxed into his warm hands and closed her eyes.
She lifted her head and walked over to the tree and sat down. The snow was definitely freezing her butt. Nott followed but didn't sit. He just leaned against the tree. "You're close to Malfoy, aren't you?"
The sudden question made her raise her head at him. Nott looked down at her and sighed. "I- I don't know what you're talking about" she stumbled.
Nott scoffed. "You aren't very good at lying.....or hiding things" he crouched down at her level and met her eyes. Her breath hitched. Nott leaned in and his soft hands brushed her collarbone.
He picked up her necklace and examined it. "It's his. Malfoy's. He's my friend. I know it's his" Nott dropped it back onto her neck and harshly grabbed her jaw. "I just don't understand why he'd give it to you. Someone like you shouldn't even be near someone like Malfoy. Yet you're wearing his ring...on your..neck" Nott whispered.
She gulped. What was he doing?
