Chapter 10: Relationship Advice

Hi everyone. Hope you enjoy the tenth chapter of my fanfic. I've actually thought up a ship name for Horiuchi and Korekiyo.

After getting a good night sleep for once, I arrived at school to see, as usual, Ms. Yukizome, Shuichi, Kaede, and Kiyo there, along with Rantaro, the Ultimate Adventurer. As soon as I walked in, Kaede and Shuichi came over. "You guys done with your project?" Shuichi asked. I nodded.  "Kiyo and I also had a discussion. Of something personal." I said as Kaede opened her mouth. She closed it, and Shuichi said, "Could I ask?" I nodded, sighing, and turning to them. "Eight years ago, I watched my brother get shot to death right in front of me." I said. "That's horrible." Kaede said. Her hand jumped to her mouth as she looked at me.

Shuichi stared at me for a moment, before shaking his head. "Is that why you didn't get much sleep yesterday?" He asked. I nodded sharply. Kaede reached over and gave me a hug. I stiffened, but then returned it. "Thank you both." I said. Kaede and Shuichi both nodded, then moved away. I returned to opening my locker, when a voice spoke from behind me. "Horiuchi, can I ask you something?" I yelped, turning around. Rantaro stood there. "Sorry, didn't mean to scare ya." He said, running a hand through his green hair. "It's okay, Rantaro." I replied.

"Can I ask you about something?" He said. "Yeah, sure." I replied. "It's about-" "Kirumi, I'm guessing." I said. He nodded, smiling. "How'd you know?" "I've been told I'm very perceptive, especially with people's emotions." I said. "Well, it's just that I want to tell her that I like her, and I'm not sure how." He said. "I'll ask her if she likes you. Can you meet me at the Starbucks by the Macy's in the shopping mall?"I asked. He nodded. "I'll be there."  At lunch I went over to Kirumi and asked her if I could talk to her for a moment.

"If that is what you wish, certainly." She smiled, brushing a lock of her hair out of her eyes. We spoke about what was going on, before I got to the topic. "So, Kirumi, I wanted to ask you something. Do you like anyone here? As in, have a crush on anyone?" I asked. To my suprise, she turned pink. "It's alright if you don't want to say." I said. "It's fine." She laughed. "I do, actually. It's Rantaro." "Rantaro?" I asked, feigning surprise. "Yes. He's very charming, and I think he looks handsome." She said, blushing.

"Well, that's great." I said. "It's just I haven't worked out a way to tell him." She said. "I can help. Would you come with me to the Starbucks by the Macy's after school? I could discuss it with you." I offered. She nodded.

I had already told Kiyo what I was going to do, and he had agreed. When Kirumi and I walked in, I immediately spotted Rantaro and waved at him. "Hey Rantaro!" I said. He waved back. We ordered coffee and began to talk, and I immediately noticed both Kirumi and Rantaro were blushing. We began to talk when my phone rang. The caller ID read Korekiyo.
Perfect, I thought. "Hold on you guys, I'll be right back. It's okay, you guys can continue." I said as Rantaro's eyes fell on me. I quickly took the call a few meters away."

We talked for a moment before he mentioned we had something to do for a project. I feigned being worried. "Oh no. I have to go." I said to both of them. "What is it?" Kirumi said. "I forgot something for my project." I replied, giving Rantaro some cash. "What's this for?" He asked. "To pay. Sorry to leave on such short notice." I said, beginning to leave. Shortly after I left, Kiyo called me again. "How are they doing?" He asked. I looked through the window that led right into the cage, where Rantaro and Kirumi were both talking, seemingly well.

I relayed this information to Kiyo, and he laughed. "They seem to be getting along quite well. That was a good plan." He said. "Well, I can't take all the credit." I said, beginning to walk away. "Thanks for helping carry it out." "Glad I could help." He replied.
