Korekiyo POV

We somehow made it to the hospital, with both Horiuchi and I covered his blood. The receptionist didn't need to take his name, just immediately called for nurses and a gurney. One of the nurses happened to be a friend of Horiuchi's mother, and she had me call them as they worked. They got there in under five minutes, and both hugged me tightly. "What happened?" Mrs.Yoshiro asked. "W-we were walking back home, and we got attacked by these men, and-and one of them had a knife, and he-" my voice broke as I remembered my sister stabbing him once, twice, three times. "It's okay. It's going to be okay." Mrs.Yoshiro said. "We should get you checked out as well."

Soon, after a few hours we were allowed to see him. He was unconscious wearing a hospital gown, and was barely breathing. "Oh my-no, please." Mrs.Yoshiro broke down in tears and moved up to him. "No, my baby boy please. Don't leave me." She knelt down beside him and clutched his hand, kissing it. I stared at him, feeling only a sense of loneliness. She moved away from him, wiping away tears. I moved towards him. I gripped his hand tightly. "Please, don't leave me Horiuchi. Please. I don't want to lose you." I said. The nurse walked in, and we all looked up at her. "Are you all family?" She asked. His mother and father both nodded. "And you?" She asked me. "I'm his-his partner." I said. She nodded. We stayed with him for a little while, before leaving. "Kiyo, stay with us. Please. It'll help." Mr.Yoshiro said.

I nodded, and went back to their place with them. I slept in Horiuchi's bed again, trying to find some thought that he would be okay, feeling a sense of loneliness I thought could never be possible. My dreams were plagued with images of Horiuchi getting stabbed over and over again. I woke up at least five times that night. That morning I woke up, again feeling lonely. Completely forgetting my mask, I went downstairs to see Mrs.Yoshiro had made a nice breakfast, and they were both eating silently. "Good morning, Korekiyo." Mrs.Yoshiro said. "Good morning, Mrs. Yoshiro, Mr.Yoshiro." I said, nodding to both of them. We ate, and then went to visit Horiuchi. It seemed the same, except he was looking less pale. We stayed with him for a little while, before hearing a knock at the door.

We opened it to see the entire class there, looking worried. "Kiyo? Is that you?" Miss Yukizome asked. I nodded. "We haven't, well, seen you without the mask." Kaito said. "The nurse let them in, a bit ruefully, I might add. "Is he going to be okay?" Kokichi asked, with a somber expression on his face. "I'm surprised you even care." I snapped. Almost everyone turned to look at me. "I apologize. It's been a long day." I said. Kokichi, for once, didn't respond, only set his gift of sunflowers by his bedside. They also set more gifts by him, and his parents thanked them.

After they all left, both of Horiuch's parents turned to me. "I apologize for what I said. I'm just worried about him." I said to them. "We all are." I sighed, sitting down next to him. "He was the first person that actually wanted to talk to me in months. When I first met him...." I trailed off, brushing a lock of hair out of my face. Mrs.Yoshiro smiled. "He was kind but shy, I'm guessing." She said. I nodded, letting a small laugh out of me. "He was the first person that was there for me after my sister's death." I said. "She died years ago." I said as Mr.Yoshiro's mouth opened. "I'm sorry." Mrs.Yoshiro said. "Don't be. She was a...a horrible person. She was manipulative and terrifying. I hated it." I said. "I'm sorry." Mrs.Yoshiro said again.

I grabbed his hand and held it tightly. "Come back to us. Please. I don't want to lose you." I whispered. I sighed. "Please, wake up." His hand twitched in mine. My eyes widened. "His hand moved." I said to his parents. Their eyes widened as well. I squeezed his hand tightly, and he let out a small grunt. Mrs. Yoshiro immediately left the room to get a nurse. By the time she returned with a nurse, Horiuchi began to open his eyes. His eyes slid over me. "K-Kiy..." I cut him off before he could finish, leaning forward and kissing him, not giving a damn whoever was in the room. When we broke apart I pulled him into a hug, and began to laugh and cry, seeing him finally wake up.

"Ow, ow. Hey." He laughed as I pulled away from him. We began to laugh, as we pulled away from each other. Both of Horiuchi's parents and the nurse were smiling slightly. The nurse checked Horiuchi for any pain and made sure he could walk. He tried, and then they began to move him to his house. "How long was I out?" He asked me. "About a day or so." I replied. "The class came to visit." The nurse walked up to us as we loaded him in. "So, make sure he takes his pain medication, make sure he doesn't pull his stitches, and try not to make him move his waist and ribs too much." She told us. I nodded.

As we rode home, I told him what happened after he passed out, and whispered to him the fake story of people attacking us. I didn't want to put his parents in too far in Doom's Hand's crosshairs. I sighed, sliding my hand into his and squeezing it. "I love you." I said to him. His face broke into a wide grin. "I know." He smiled. When we got back we helped him in to his bed. "Hey. Thanks for helping." He said, looking at me. "It's nothing." I replied, smiling. "I like you better without the mask." He said. I laughed. He pulled me closer to him, and kissed me. I pushed against him, and he pushed back, both of us enjoying the kiss. I moved in next to him. He raised an eyebrow. "Somebody's got to keep you safe." I said. "Wow. Look at that. The Ultimate Anthropologist showing some humor." He said. I laughed. Horiuchi's mother peeked her head in. "Good night, you two." She smiled. "Night mom." Horiuchi said. "Good night." I said. We then both fell asleep, tired from the days events.
