I rushed at Miss Yukizome, blade ready. I swung it in a classic fake-out, swinging low, then going high. She partied, pushing me away with surprising force. I ran at her again, and instead of doing the same thing, I did a series of slashes and jabs, pressuring her to back up. She swung at me, and metal clanged as we fought."You're good," I said, after dodging a few strikes from her. "I've had some practice." She smiled. We fought for a few more moments before I finished the fight with a sweep kick, which knocked her down, and then pointed my sword at her. "Done." I said. I extended a hand to her, and I pulled her up. "That was fun." She said. I laughed. I showed them a few more demonstrations with other weapons, like a fencing sword, a spear, and a dagger. "Ooh, what's in that box?" Kokichi asked, pointing at the small wooden chest that was beside the wall.
I turned to look at it, and reached behind the weapon wall for a small panel which contained the key. I inserted it into the lock, and opened it, to pull out another, smaller box. I opened that, and it contained a gift that I had received for my 18th birthday. A kwan dao, a foldable spear that translates to "reclining moon blade", lay in a silk wrapping. I carefully unfolded it and took it out, setting the box back in the chest. "What's that?" Kaede asked.
"A kwan dao. Basically a curved, foldable spear." I replied, turning it so it unfolded, standing about six feet tall in length. I set it on the ground, one hand wrapped around it as the blade pointed to the sky. "It was a gift from my parents on my birthday last year. I use it sometimes, but never for fighting." I said. I spun it around, feeling the familiar weight in my hands before planting it back down on the ground. I folded it up again and hooked it onto my jeans. "Any time I need it, it's there. I can take on several people at once with it." I said. "Really?" Kaede asked. I nodded.
"I want to test that." A voice spoke up. Maki Harukawa, the Ultimate Assassin brushed a lock of her brown hair behind her as she walked up to me. She went behind me, and grabbed a Bowie knife off the wall. "A Bowie knife versus a kwan dao? Doesn't seem fair." I said to her as she positioned herself a few meters away from me. "To me it is." She said quietly.
Again, Kirumi raised her hand, and brought it down with another, "Begin." Maki and I rushed at each other, weapons ready. I flipped the kwan dao around, and slammed the blade into the ground, while also letting my feet lift up, and using my hands to move myself around it. Both feet connected with Maki, and she flew backwards as some of the class let out an "Oh!" Miu even let out a, "Damn!" Ms. Yukizome scolded her for a second, but her attention soon returned to the fight.
We struck at each other, her knife being more useful at close range. I tried to keep her at a distance by using the length of the kwan dao to push her back, but she kept advancing, soon knocking it out of my hands. She swung at me again, and then that was when she made her mistake. She held the blade out normally, but the swipe she did caused her to overreach, and gave me an opening. I twisted, swinging a fist out to hit her in the stomach, before jumping back and then drop kicking into her, sending her flying across the yard.
She grunted as she got up, a small river of blood coming from her mouth. I raised my hands, and she nodded, handing me back the knife. "You did well, Harukawa-San." I said. She nodded., her stone cold expression never changing. "You did as well." "Are you alright?" I asked, motioning to her ribs. She nodded. After that battle, I showed them around the rest of the house before we left.
"Remember everyone. Keep working on your projects." Ms Yukizome said, as her and a couple of the students walked with her back to their houses, while others were meeting up with partners. "Kiyo!" I called. "We should probably finish the project here." I said as he walked over. "That won't be the only thing he's gonna be finishing!" Miu yelled her vulgar remark from the door. I could feel my face heat up, and saw Kiyo's face do the same under his mask. I sighed. "Let's finish up our project. We're almost done anyways." I said to Kiyo, and we began to head down to the library.
