Chapter 19 - Why?

Sofia's POV

I had the sun hitting on my face when I woke up so I turned around, to get more sleep. I continued to sleep peacefully for another hour or so.

I woke up after a few hours and went downstairs to have breakfast with Hugo and his family.

I went downstairs to the dining room where I saw Hugo and his family started eating their breakfast.

I sat down next Axel and Hugo.

He kissed me on my cheek and smiled brightly, "Hey Sof how was your sleep?"

I replied as I started eating the pancakes, "It was great Hugo."

Garrick explained as he started eating pancakes, "Well I have some more work to do, and Samira has some work in another kingdom to do so they can help us with a trade deal." "Axel is going on missions with Amber, James." "And Hugo has some paperwork to do with his spy work and royal work, it's just a few papers." "So Sofia you can do some spy work or something you want to do while you're staying here for other 3 days."

I nodded as I finished my pancakes. While I working on my homework in the guest room.

I bumped into Hugo in the garden and we landed into the fountain and accidentally kissed on the lips. Suddenly he kissed back, I kissed back once he did.

After we kissed, he said with a smirk graced crossed his face, "I want to meet you later okay?"

I nodded and I looked down before he saw my blushing face.

I went to the library early in the afternoon while I reading some books.  

Some familiar green, forest eyes landed on her while she was working.

Hugo's POV

I was working on my homework and the paperwork of the spy and royal work.

When I saw Sofia working when her eyes landed on me while I just finished working the paperwork.

I said simply, "Hi."

She asked and came closer, "Hi?" "Hugo what are you doing here?"

I answered back with childish smile, "I was working on my homework and the paperwork and I finished all of it so I'm taking a break."

She raised an eyebrow at him like a mother would do to their misbehaving child, "If you're done?" "Then why are you still here?" "Or why aren't you looking for something else to do?" "Then why am I here?"

I stood up and lowered my head so I could rest my forehead against hers, I said as my voice suddenly turned serious, "Because I missed you."

She said playfully as she nudged her nose against mine, "Hugo." "You saw me this morning."

Knowing I made her heart beat ten times faster after I said that.

I said as my voice returned to its childish tone returning the nose nudge, "Yeah, this morning." I pulled back and looked down at her. She even saw my puffed cheeks, like I was pouting or something before continuing, "It's one in the afternoon now Sof."

"Really?" "Now?" "Hugo?" She began, firmly putting hands on my chest, gently pushing me away. "I have work to do still."

I asked cheekily, with a teasing smile, "Really then why are you in the library?" "Shouldn't you be 'working' if you're here?"

I saw her looking away and trying to come up with an excuse.

She began, "Uh...." "It was cold and I had I was going to get a sweater from my room."

I saw her basically frazzled and embarrassed in front of me. Has I saw her blush and trying to pull away from my grasp.

All I said flatly, "You liar." Making her heart beat faster. I smirked as I continued, "You came to see me right?"

She sigh quietly before she regained herself before saying bluntly, "No."

She did something unexpected but good for me. She gave me the most gentle yet passionate kiss I could think of.

I spoke first after the kiss, "Is this your way of apologising of not coming earlier?"

She tried to hide her smile while pulling away from my arms again, "Funny Hugo." "I should go and do my work and you need to find something to do,"

She was about to step forward to the door. I pulled her back and I kissed her again. This kiss was in the matter of the seconds, behind her the door shut.

I smiled mischievously down at her, "I needed that for the road."

She was certain that she could wipe that smile off my face that because of her shocked expression.

I saw her gathering her scattered brain has I saw her blush and glared back at me, "What road?!" "You're just staying in the library!"

Her comment made me laugh and made me smile bigger, "Yes but I needed it." "And you know I hate to work my ass off sometimes." As I cupped her face, trying to steal another kiss from her.

She angrily stuttered as she swatted her hands away and her hands on her hips, "Oh no you don't." "Hugo "I-you-you."

I held my hands in surrender, "Okay okay."  "Sorry I won't seek or steal another kiss from you again." She could see the laugh lingering from my lips.

She smiled softly as she got to the door, "Good."

She peaked her door again and she said, "Wait Hugo come here."

I heard the urgency in the voice, "What is it?"

As soon I was close enough, so she could feel my warm breath in her, she swivelled around and crushed her lips against me. She kissed me hard, like making breathless. I kissed back before she pulled away and whispered in my ear, "Payback."

I laughed as I leaned against the door as I saw her blush and turned around to go back where she was.

Once it was lunch went by and we had lunch together. When it came to dinner time we had dinner with my family of course.

Once we had to get to bed, I noticed Sofia was quiet.

I asked in concern as I sat down next to her, "Sof what's wrong?"

She jumped and smiled softly, "Oh nothing."

I smiled as I held her close, "You're lying." "You've been quiet since dinner." "What's wrong?"

She sighed as she stayed in my arms, "It's just why did Michael do what he did?" "Why?"

I said with a shrug, "I don't know." "But if you want we can confront him together."

She laughed half-heartily and suggested, "Hugo how about I confront him while you confront Cassandra if she was in on it?" "Okay?"

I kissed her forehead before going to sleep slowly, "Okay good night."

I heard Sofia say in a sweet voice, "Good night Hugo."
