chapter 12

Emma

after the lake we all went back to the winston household. soda steve two and i went in my room. i wanted to talk to soda but i didn't want to be rude. i just gave two the "Can you go" look and he nodded "steve let's go see if darry needs help bringing stuff inside" he said and they left. "so should we talk about what happened?" i asked soda. "yea probably" he said kind of laughing. "well i-" but soda cut me off. "it was a mistake" he said. "oh uhm ok" i said awkwardly.

i should've known he didn't like me. "maybe you should help steve and two." i said. "yea i'll be back" he said. once he left i let myself cry. it felt like he ripped my heart right out of my chest. i laid on my bed and just screamed into my pillow. i couldn't control my emotions. i started just quietly crying til soda walked back in. "mae?" he said silently. "i lied" he said. "w-what?" i said confused. "i didn't think the kiss was a mistake. i like you mae. a lot." he said. "please don't cry" he said hugging me.

"i like you too soda" i said quietly. "really?" he asked. "yes" i replied. we just sat there hugging. i was still crying a little bit so he just comforted me. "we're you crying over me?" he asked. "maybe" i said. "i'm so sorry i don't know why i said that." he said hugging me tighter. then hazel walked in "amber needs y- what's wrong mae?" she asked. "nothing. i'm coming." and walked out.

Soda

i cant believe i made her cry. i'm such an idiot. i thought she didn't like me so i just blurted it out. "what did you do soda?" hazel asked "i said the kiss was a mistake. but i didn't mean it i just told her i didn't mean to make her cry i promise" i said so fast i didn't really understand myself. "you better not hurt her sodapop or i'll kill you" hazel said "ME TOO" dally yelled from the hall.

"i won't ever hurt her again" i said. "i promise." "good" hazel said then emma came back in. "hey" i said awkwardly. "hi". "emma mae winston" i said taking her hands. "yes sodapop patrick curtis" "will you go on a date with me tomorrow?" i asked smiling and blushing. "of course i will" she said hugging me. "i have to shower i'll be back" she said going in her bathroom. 15 minutes later she came out and said "turn around i gotta change" "ok sorry" i said laughing. after she showered she went and talked to steve and two so i showered then she came back and fell asleep in my arms. i whispered "i love you" and fell asleep.
