Valentina's POV

Due to romantic relationships in the Akatsuki being strictly forbidden, the next morning Itachi and I woke up extra early to secretly hold hands and talk.

Itachi tried to kiss me once on the lips but I moved and kissed his cheek instead. I was too afraid that kissing him on the lips would make me travel back to the future, and I'll be damned if my happiness got taken away like that.

"Our relationship has to be kept a secret until the three of us get out of here." Itachi whispered. "Tobi is always watching and Leader will send us into different missions if they know that we are involved..."

"Hey friends!" Lilian bolted from her room and dashed down the stairs, drowning out Itachi's whispers.
"Itachi-San and... Valentina-Chan...?" A smile appeared on her face as she realized how close together her two friends stood. "What you two up to?"

"Just waiting for the rest to wake up," I quickly answered the older girl's question. My eyes quickly traveled back to Itachi's dark ones to find closure of whether I answered correctly or not.

"Yes." Itachi broke eye contact with me. His voice was calm and collected, compared to that of the thirteen-year-old. But he didn't blame me, it would be a problem if rumors of them being together got to Pein's or Tobi's ears. "Leader-Sama told us last night that he wanted to speak to the Akatsuki early in the morning."

"Ugh!! What is wrong with that fucker?? It's 6AM!" Hidan came out of his room complaining and being loud as always. "Why aren't you girls in the kitchen??" His distinctive purple eyes glared at Lilian and me.

"You want some breakfast Hidan-kun ? I'll make you some" Lilian seemed happier now that Hidan had joined the conversation, and skipped to the kitchen.

Before I could follow Lilian to the kitchen to avoid being suspicious, Itachi couldn't help but grab my hand. "Soon we'll be together." The soft phrase was whispered to my ear made me feel happier than I ever felt in my life.

"Okay that's weird..." Hidan raised an eyebrow as he reached the bottom of the bottom floor. "Itachi-San, I riding know you and Valentina knew each other?"

I quickly left to the kitchen before I could hear Itachi's response to Hidan. We blew it, I was sure of that.

"So, did you spend the night with Itachi-San?" Lilian's attention shifted from the eggs she was cooking for Hidan to me who stood next to her looking distressed.

"No. I spent it with you."

My replied caused Lilian to giggle. "That's my girl. Hopefully Sasori of the Red Sand is not too heartbroken when he returns from his mission." Lilian's eyes turned to the eggs as she put them in a plate. "Hopefully Leader-sama hurries up and tells us whatever he needs to say. I need the whole day to relax."

"Why?" I couldn't care less about Lilian's whereabouts, unless they involved Itachi, yet the question escaped my lips.

"I'm going to sneak out tonight and have sex with Hidan in the snow." Lilian whispered to my ear, smiling ear to ear as if the two of us were life long friends.

I couldn't help but stare at Lilian as she walked away to give the plate of eggs to Hidan. Was she really the woman that Itachi preferred over me? A woman who wanted to have sex with a rude, immortal man outside in the snow.
I eased her jealous thoughts by fixing my hair. "Itachi didn't choose her over me." I mumbled to myself . "He would of chose me if he hadn't believed that I was dead." I cursed the day she got killed. I now wished she had looked for Itachi as soon as Orochimaru had revived me in the original timeline.

"Am I late?" Deidara arrived to the first floor as Itachi and I continued to whisper in a corner while eating toast.

"No you're early. That fucker hasn't showed up," Hidan complained from the couch as he didn't bother spare a glance at the blond.
