Valentina's POV
I was snapped to reality as my team leader snapped at me.

"You need to pay more attention!" He scolded me. This was due to me making several mistakes during anbu training and not following his commands.

How could he not target me if I kept losing touch with reality?

But I couldn't help it.
My attention was focused on the pain coming from my arms, legs, stomach, back, and face.

The night before I couldn't stop thinking about Itachi. So I got out of bed and went to go look for him. Remembering the sweet words and everlasting promises he made to me years ago when we were both young and members of the Akatsuki.

I needed to see him....and I did. I sneaked into the Uchiha village. However, my emotions were nothing like I imagined them to be once I saw him. Instead of being filled with happiness, I felt disgusted. Disgusted enough to throw up. Disgusted enough to start crying.

And I did cry.
I cried as I walked away from his house. As I walked towards the exit of the Uchiha village.

Not even attempting to blend with my surroundings and hide from others. Completely not caring about the way the other Uchiha who happened to be outside of their homes looked at me. Like if I was a weirdo due to me crying loudly as I walked on my way out of the village.
"Hey are you okay?" I heard a guy called out but I didn't even turn around to look at him.

I didn't care how they looked at me because I was a weirdo. Who in their right mind would think that their childhood love would love them forever? I was dead in Itachi's and Lilian's eyes, so they fell in love with each other and went on with their lives.
Or at least that's what they showed by sleeping in each other's arms. I saw them. I saw them with my own eyes when I looked through their bedroom window. In my heart I had hoped that Itachi still loved me. But no. By the way he held Lilian in his sleep, he doesn't love me.

Disgusting. Lilian is disgusting. Disgusting enough to make me rush home and bath my skin with literal bleach. Bleach to lighten my skin color in hopes that it would turn porcelain just like Lilian's skin color.

Lilian is disgusting enough to the point that I cut my bangs just like hers. Dyed my natural hair color a black shade identical to her long black hair.

She's disgusting to the point that I took extreme measures in hopes that I looked just like her.

But instead, I ended up with three colors on my skin....my natural skin color, a porcelain white identical to Lilian's, and burns that were a bright red color all over my skin and face.

I was a weirdo. A weirdo who only wanted her man back. A weirdo who would try to become a reflection of her lover's new wife in hopes that he would turn to look her direction. A weirdo who was in pain.

"Off."

I was awoken from my inner dialogue as I heard my team captain say that word. I stared at him a bit shock. What is he saying?

"For the last time, take off your mask and identify yourself." He instructed me.

I took off my anbu mask, exposing my face. Desperately hoping the burns from the bleach had healed a bit so that others won't have to experience how I ruined my skin over the obsession I had for Itachi and Lilian.

"My name in Lily. I'm sorry for slowing down the team." I lied trying really hard to hide how much I wanted this conversation to end. I just wanted to go home and go stalk Itachi and his family at night.

He stayed quiet for a moment, and although I was avoiding eye contact, I could feel him looking at me.

"Hey guys-"

I looked up and saw Karin and Sasuke walking towards us.
Karin's smile quickly faded as soon as her eyes landed on my face. My skin damaged and stained from the bleach.

"What's up." Her eyes left me and travelled to her boyfriend, Sasuke greeting my team captain.

I was about to excuse myself from their judging eyes, but stopped on my tracks as I saw my team captain removing his anbu mask.

Obito.

Karin noticed how both Obito and Sasuke kept looking at me due to my skin and my awfully-cut bangs. "Um Sasuke this is my friend-" Karin began to speak to ease the awkwardness.

"My name is Lily." I quickly interrupted the redhead and shook Sasuke's hand forcing a smile. Completely ignoring the 'why-are-you-lying' look Karin was giving me.

"So are you gonna go to my brother's party tonight?" Sasuke asked Obito.

"Yeah," Obito said.

"Do you want to come?" Sasuke asked  me out of pure politeness.

I quickly nodded yes. This could be my opportunity to get either Itachi or Obito to be with me. After all the trouble I went through to save Itachi's daughter, I at least deserve a happy ending.
