Obitos POV
Her funeral had taken place a few days ago. It was quick and people hardly attended.
Her body was never found, but the small old house was proof that it happened. She had burned the small house she was staying in with herself inside.
The lonely anbu, Valentina, or whatever name she preferred to be called was dead.

Itachi wasn't one of the people who attended her funeral. No one could blame him. Not after the lonely anbu nearly killed his wife and daughter. But thankfully, I was able to help him rush his wife and daughter to the hospital in time. And that accident only made Itachi's family bond stronger. But when people asked me how I knew that the accident happened, I had to lie. I couldn't tell the people that the lonely anbu herself had come to me minutes after she attacked Itachi's daughter and pregnant wife, and confessed her crimes to me. Couldn't tell the people that I let her escape.
I was a hero in everyone's eyes. But I was nothing but a liar.

Itachi didn't show up to the lonely anbu's funeral but, his younger brother Sasuke did attend. Only to emotionally support his girlfriend Karin.

Karin was the one who cried the most. She truly loved the deceiving anbu as a sister. She had confessed that she knew the anbu's identity all along.
Only that she didn't know that the lonely anbu would go as far as to try to end someone's life in order to have happiness.

I attended the funeral along with Rin and some of the anbu team members who just showed up to pay their respects.

But I left the funeral early with my girlfriend. To hide the fact that I was mourning.
I attended the funeral because I loved her. But no one knew this. If they did, they'll take me for a fool.
I would become Hokage in a few days and I would marry the woman I loved all my childhood. Only an idiot would have feelings for a traitor for the village. Someone who only became an anbu to share secrets with Orochimaru, who was an S-rank criminal.

The funeral was days ago but I found myself coming back to her grave at the late hours of the night. Only visit when no one was around and if someone asked where I've been I would just lie because how can the future hokage mourn an enemy to the village he is supposed to protect?

The night was dark. There were hardly any stars and the only sound was of the cold wind whistling.
As I said my goodbyes to the grave in front of me I felt myself get covered in goosebumps.

I scanned my surroundings and thought I saw a pair of eyes looking at me from the woods at the end of the cementery.

"Obito...." I nearly jumped as Karin placed her hand on my shoulder. Her and I hardly ever spoke to each other, but I assumed she was here to visit the lonely anbu's grave.

"You scared me." I tried to laugh it off. My eyes traveling back to the woods thinking of what excuse to give for why I was standing in front of the lonely anbu's grave.

"Obito, I have something to show you." Her voice was serious.

I looked at our surroundings. We were alone and the sky was dark. Not even Sasuke was around which was unusual. They were always together.

"Okay." I reluctantly agreed and let her take my hand and lead me somewhere deep inside in the woods.

But when you told me the whole story I felt like throwing up Where stories live. Discover now
