Obito's POV
It was after ANBU training when I saw her again sitting under a tree in anbu training grounds. At first I had to blink several times to make sure it was her.
"Dammit." I muttered as I went towards her. It had been days since she had been kicked out from the anbu team due to identity fraud. She had been forbidden to be in these training grounds, and as far as I knew, Itachi didn't want anything to do with her. His marriage and family were his priority now.
So was she following me now?
"Hey! You know you can't be here!"
She turned to face me. Tears in her eyes as she gripped her kunai.
"Itachi won't talk to me," was all she said as she quickly tried to slit her throat.
By instinct, I stopped her. I wasn't about to witness someone kill themselves in front of me.
"What are you doing?? Are you crazy?!" I asked her as I attempted to take the kunai from her hand before she could hurt herself or anyone.
"Is something wrong with me??!! Did I do something wrong that made Itachi just change his mind about his relationship with me?!" She dropped to her knees and was full on crying. Kunai still pressed against her throat.
"Itachi made a mistake." I chose my words carefully. Feeling adrenaline from the fear of this psychopath killing herself in any second. "Things just didn't work out with you two. Now you need to focus on improving your mental health."
She thought for a moment amd I took this opportunity to extend my hand to help her up, but she refused it.
"Getting help for my mental health and for what? I'm still alone. You two are living your best lives because of me and I'm-" she stopped talking and purposely slammed her head against the tree behind her.
"You're delusional!" I took this opportunity to force her to her feet and restrained her before she could continue hurting herself.
"Why does it matter so much to you whether I hurt myself or not?" She asked me as we made eye contact with each other for the first time in this conversation.
"I don't know." And I truly didn't know why.
She began to leaned towards me and I felt everything in slow motion. All she wanted was to have someone. And rejecting her just like Itachi did would only cause her to hurt herself somewhere else where I couldn't stop her.
I gently grabbed her shoulders. Holding her back before her lips could touch mine. "Go home okay? Work on improving your mental health." I told her as I brushed her hair out of her face. Some bright red patches showing through the pale white foundation she used to try to cover the unevenness on her skin.
She paused for a moment and smiled.
"Only if you walk me home."
