CHRISTMAS SPEICAL - PART 2

LOUIE POV

I looked from Athena to Matt and back again, nervously.

I mean, I want Matt dead as much as the next person. I still owe Emma my part of the deal we made.

But something hadn't been right with Athena for a couple of months, she's been avoiding me, and Zehra.

Not letting me hug or kiss her. She would draw out her aggressiveness against the zombie attacks more intensely then normal and it would be awhile before I could get her to calm down and bring her home.

But now...

I see that same aggressiveness flash across her eyes before she summoned her bow. I had watched her stare at Matt for a long time, trying to figure out what was going on in her head.

But I figured out a bit too late.

"What's the deal? I thought we had a truce?" Matt yelled at her as Dewey and Webby held him back.

He was trying to get at my girlfriend...

"That truce is no longer valid!" Athena shouted back.

"W- Why? What changed?" I asked quietly.

Athena's muscles tensed at my question, and she avoided my eyes and slowly started to back away from me.

I quickly made to grab her hand.

"No. Don't - No more running, Athena. Please." I begged.

But she bolted up the stairs and I flinch when I hear a door slam shut.

Silence filled the room and I glanced over at Zehra. She and I got into a non-verbal conversation with our eyes darting from the group to each other before I started sprinting after Athena.

I hear Zehra right behind me but then Matt shouted.

"Zeza!"

We both froze at the top of the stairs and looked behind us. Matt was staring at Zehra with tears in his eyes.

"Zeza. Please." He choked out reaching for her.

Zehra had a look of distress on her face.

"I'm sorry, Matt. Athena needs me the most right now." Zehra replied coolly.

I blink.

I never heard her use that tone around Matt.

Matt looked like he had been punched in the gut.

Something different was up if it can change Zehra's attitude towards her brother.

"Come on." I say quietly and grabbed Zehra's hand.

She looked at me a bit surprised but didn't pull away from me as I tugged her along behind me.

ZEHRA POV

Um.

What is he doing??? Why does he have to hold my hand?!

Whatever. I won't question it. Too much is happening. 

We stop at the door we girls share, and I pull my hand away. I look at Louie, motioning with my head, "What are you waiting for?! Go inside!"

Louie shakes his head. "No. You first. Calm her down for me, okay?" He whispers.

I roll my eyes, but oblige. I step inside the room, finding Athena laying down on the bed and crying into her pillow.

I don't say anything... I just let her cry it out. This must be hard for her... What am I sayin- OF COURSE IT'S HARD FOR HER!
